Mike Yanez Officially Announces Highlander Fight Team Tampa
St. Petersburg, FL (June 3, 2009) - Mike Yanez is proud to announce the official formation of Highlander Fight Team Tampa. Having already established the esteemed Highlander Louisville (KY) Fight Team, Yanez is returning to his Florida roots in his effort to spread the Highlander name and style across the country.
Trained under the legendary BJJ father-son duo Jorge and Pablo Popovitch from the Carlson Gracie side of the Gracie Jiu Jitsu family tree, Yanez quickly parlayed a successful BJJ career into successful MMA and coaching careers, training the likes of CT Turner, who will join Yanez as a coach at Highlander Tampa and Joe Heink, who currently runs Highlander Louisville, both successful pro fighters themselves.
"CT definitely has the cage experience to be an instructor in MMA" said Yanez. "He's had some really close fights with really tough opponents and was put on the fast-track to be a pro fighter even though he had only been training for two years and had no formal training before that. He's been faced with high expectations and pretty soon, he's going to slice through everybody."
Located in St. Pete MMA, www.stpetemma.com, 5980 66th St. North Unit T (next to and Behind Army surplus store) St. Petersburg Fl. 33456, the new Highlander Tampa facility boasts a full cage and mat area as well as a full arsenal of training equipment. Classes are offered Monday-Thursday, 630 PM – 930 PM and private lessons are available by appointment.
Yanez's Highlander Louisville team already has a record of over 100 pro and amateur MMA wins and Yanez is ready to get Highlander Tampa to the century mark even faster. With connections to over 40 of the top MMA promotions in the country, members of Highlander Tampa will be answering the call to fight across the nation.
