LAS VEGAS (CP) - UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has been forced to withdraw from a scheduled title defence next month because of a knee injury.

The UFC says the 25-year-old mixed martial arts fighter from Montreal was hurt training for his 170-pound bout against Matt Serra. The two were to have met Feb. 3 in Las Vegas at UFC 67: All of nothing.

It was to have been St. Pierre's first title defence since winning the belt from Matt Hughes in Sacramento on Nov. 18.

It marks the second time in recent months that an injury has forced the Canadian to drop out of a fight.

St. Pierre was originally supposed to fight Hughes in September, only to be sidelined by a groin problem.
