Reading the ufc.com article about Pierre this jumped out at me:
'"I trained at the Renzo Gracie Academy, and it's a good thing because the Gracies have fought BJ Penn," said St. Pierre, referring to Renzo and Rodrigo Gracie's decision losses to 'The Prodigy'. "They know his moves, what he's doing on the ground, and the stuff he did against them, so they teach me a lot of stuff."'
So, I guess anyone fighting Penn should run to Renzo's academy because Renzo knows Penn's moves?
Although i have not seen it, from most accounts i have read here, Renzo gave Penn a good fight; and given that Penn has fought Creighton, Serra, Rodrigo and Renzo; the Renzo camp should have good knowledge of Penn's MMA skills
lol kantao- i hope i'm reading that the right way. It's true, but not many people have beat BJ, no one has ever KO'ed or submitted him- so who else can GSP go train with that will improve his Jits and know a thing or two about Penn?
like i said, who else would be better for GSP to improve on his weakest, at least for this fight, part of the game and learn something of Penn's game from guys who have fought him?

Interesting... "
I think it was just Georges trying to say a few nice things about Renzo's group.
You're trying to read too much into it.
I bet you get uspet when you and your boyfriend are walking down the street and then another pretty girl walks by, "what the hell are you looking at???? You want to be with her, don't you???".
yes subjitsu, if someone is fighting BJ and they have the opportunity to train one on one with Renzo Gracie, who fought BJ alot more effectively than most thought he could, then it probably would behoove him to do it.
You act as if Renzo's academy isn't already established. St. Pierre isn't advocating taking a magic pill, he's talking about training with a top team you jealous idiot.
He went first and foremost because he wanted to strengthen his Bjj skills and he felt he had to go outside his camp. So, being smart, he figured why not train with a solid group that, in addition to being good, also had knowledge of what tis like to fight Penn.
bills- so going by your logic, he should have trained with Machida or Pulver. Lets see, what would have Machida taught him that would help Pierre win the fight? Putting on 40 pounds? Or how bout he went and trained with Pulver instead, i'm sure MFS would be have been more than happy to get a good look at Pierres's skills.
so...?
