Step Over Loop Choke

I posted this in the BJJ forum but I'd thought I would post it here. I teach both Judo and BJJ at different schools and was playing around after BJJ class and came up with this choke. I have been mostly hitting it during Judo NeWaza since it is common for people to turtle.

We filmed this after some hard training. The camera guy was tired which is why the video is a bit shaky.

I read your post on the BJJ forum. Yarden Gerbi (ISR) 63k female ranked #2 in world used this choke in her most recent Championship bout (Abu Dhabi 2014 Judo Grand Slam finals)but it hasn't appeared on YouTube as a video by itself. She is very innovative in attacking the turtle with this choke. I am more familiar with the Peruvian neck tie choke where the leg is thrown over the shoulder into the armpit area. Grabbing the belt also. And you are 100 correct this works against larger opponents. Very applicable in judo attacking the turtle from the front. Thanks.

Cool, let me know if that video pops up. One of the reasons I started to play with the peruvian necktie setup and different entries into the loop choke is because I saw Gerbi do the choke with her lapel. It is cool to see the elite Judoka use it in competition.

Oh, I re-read your post and you said she used it in the Abu Dhabi 2014 Judo Grand Slam finals. I'll have to see if I can find that video.

Correction the finals match 63k from the 2014 Judo Grand Prix Tashkent where she does the loop choke vs. (AUT)Unterwurzacher.

Her match begins at the 1:01:00 mark. It is part of day 2 finals block. It still hasn't appeared as an individual video yet.

Thanks

Cool choke but not the choke I was thinking of when referred to as a step over loop, but after some research it appears there are a few variations (the first one is the one I'm most familiar with though it's called a tornado clock in the vid):

Yep, I seen those other versions. I guess you could call this a Peruvian Necktie Loop choke. In class I just call it the Frog Choke to give it a simple and unique name.

From the starting position where I am on top, I have a series of attacks I do. This are things I got from BJJ and where I have had more time to train it since I have more time to play NeWaza.

I like the version I show in the video because my entry is tighter than the videos you linked, and the finishing position is comfortable and powerful.

The first choke I have never seen in judo and wouldn't. World class judokas would grab the left leg gi pant by the knee with the left hand(non choke hand), flatten the opponent out and walk around counterclockwise to choke. this is a basic judo choke.

Second choke video Gerbi is the only one I have seen do this choke similar to what is called a loop choke or maybe a Peruvian necktie choke.
