Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson returns this weekend

For those who are unaware of the guy, watch the above video, exciting striker in the welterweight division.

Lost a tough fight to Matt Brown, and returns to the octagon after a year's absense.

Can't wait to see him in action again!

I love how brown put an end to that hype with a quickness. Phone Post 3.0

Glad to see him back, great stand up and if he's developed the rest of his game he could be dangerous, I'd like to see him fight kampmann! Phone Post

There's no shame losing to Brown, he's been in beast mode lately. I look forward to seeing how Thompson develops.

this. so tired of hypetrains.

he aint no machida

He would do well to imitate Machida's clinch, trips and takedowns. Also GSPs with that karate distance control shot.

He just needs a ground game, his striking is fine.

You love when exciting prospects lose in wars to good vets so you and others can shit on them afterward? You sound like you have a great appreciation for MMA and its participants.

Losing on the way up in a competitive fight where you knocked out Matt Brown twice on the feet, according to the man himself, is hardly anything for a hype train to get derailed over. Unless you just hate when any fighter receives praise and can't wait for them to be knocked down a peg.

Hope he's worked on his cardio/takedown defense!

I was fully on the Wonderboy hype train before The Immortal totally exposed his lack of ground game... Phone Post 3.0

Machida didn't just grow up in Shotokan but in Sumo and Judo too reaching a championship level in Sumo and black belt level in Judo. Ontop of this, he was training out of black house to become a top mixed martial artist since day one of his MMA career....Comparing Lyoto and Stephen isn't accurate.

Also, Stephen was never undefeated as a kickboxer, he lost to Raymond daniels...I watched him lose and I watched him lie in all those UFC interviews claiming he was undefeated.

Can't wait I enjoy his fights ... Vu op Phone Post 3.0

How did he lose? Phone Post 3.0

Yes, he lost to Matt Brown, but that doesn't mean we should write him off.. he may have improved his ground game, and he's still an excellent striker that any fight fan should look forward to seeing in the octagon again.

yeah and matt brown is a monster.. no shame in losing to that guy. IF his ground game can catch up, he could show some serious promise

Seeing how well Matt has done really shows how much potential wonderboy has, he had him hurt several times and could have won with a little better wrestling and cardio. Phone Post 3.0

Quickness? Wasn't it a grueling three round fight that Brown was losing?

If the ground game is his issue; Isn't he married to a Machado? I'd be calling up my brother in law for some ground help haha Phone Post 3.0

Matt brown talked all kinds of shit about his Muay Thai being better than karate. Then he wrestled Thompson the whole fight. Pretty weak. Phone Post 3.0

It was a WCL fight, it used to be on youtube and it used to be a win on Raymonds record. It was a win for Raymond and his team in the tournament, handraised and all. I think he wanted to consider it an injury....but if you get injured in a fight...FIGHTING fairly, cannot continue...you fucking lose.
