still no better looking game then a game from 1983

today i bought the psn version of Dragons Lair. yes we are talking about a game that was orginally released in 1983.

and still to this day i have to say it is the best looking computergame i have ever played.

the animation is incredible. handdrawn animation cells. it beats the piss out of every 3D shooter in terms of graphics and animation.

i finnished the game for first time on the amiga were i had to switch the disc every minute or so. but damn was it worth it.

why cant they just make a game like dragons lair with more control input, but with the same animation quality and graphics?

wow i barely even remember that game.

I liked Space Ace better

it looks and plays like a classic disney movie. amazing. i never heard about it before.

It's not really a game though, just one drawn out quick time event.

They looked great cause it was a laserdisc player in the cabinet.

There is an emulator for for these games but it's a bitch to get it running if you don't know much about computers.

still the best baseball game is baseball stars

It looked great because it was a cartoon that you could pick different tracks from. Comparing it to an actual interactive game is foolish. If you want to compare it to anything it would be Heavy Rain which looked a thousand times better.

a game is a fucking game.

and Dragons lair animation is thousand times better then Heavy Rain. when you move a charachter in heavy rain it is still stiff.

i know so i played and finnished it. it is a great game Heavy Rain, but animation wise it cant hold a candle to Dragons Lair.

and almost 30 years later is it so much to ask that we get that kind of dragons lair quality in different kind of games. could someone really not make a 2D platformer or something like that with the graphics and animation of dragons lair?

For once i agree with redeye

Its still a game, and it looks awesome.
No different than the interactive cut-scenes in God of War 1-3.

I suppose if you are not smart enough to tell the difference it will keep you entertained.

Stupid people make stupid assumptions.

Explain this difference between the interactive scenes in GoW and Dragons Lair/Space Ace.

Because there is an actual game around the interactive scenes.

So the actual difference is... none... right.

And all there is around the GoW scenes is a game with a set path, with set goals that you have to accomplish in order to move forward.... just like the 10 minutes of Dragons Lair...which by definition, makes it a game. It might not be a REAL game to you, but its fits all the basic criteria of a game is...which makes it a game.

Now go away, you've contributed nothing to this thread.

No because in an actual game you can reverse direction, stop moving forward, take an alternate path to achieve a goal. A cartoon that says, hit this button now to continue is a toy for people that are distracted by shiny objects.

P4P Donkey Kong Country for SNES remains the best graphics of all time.

lol

It doesn't even have "graphics".

Dragon's Lair is a dvd movie with a joystick to control which chapter you jump to instead of a remote control.

could someone really not make a 2D platformer or something like that with the graphics and animation of dragons lair?

Sure, if you want a platformer with entirely fixed camera angles and virtually no control over any aspect of gameplay. For 95% of the game, you cannot act at all. The other 5% of the time, a single button press or joystick direction will get you somewhere, all others mean automatic death. Whee!!

Play Heart of Darkness on PSX if you want nice animation with some actual gameplay.

The animation and plot in Toy Story 3 is pretty good. The game bit wasn't much fun though. You just have to press select when the cursor is on Play Movie. But apparently that counts

Way to miss the whole game, bro. If you time your chapter jump presses right, you can avoid having Buzz get captured and turned entirely. Or, if you're really good, you can jump from the kid talking to his mom, right to the kid donating the toys to the girl, and skip all that nastiness in between.

 LOL @ calling Dragon's Lair a 'game'.
