He's had 4 fights in 3.5 years, he's had enough of a breather. Fan of his and appreciate what he does for his community but he is making excuse after excuse not to fight D.C. It makes more sense to do this fight in August then it does in the fall if he is using the pandemic as an excuse considering they expect it to be much worse in the fall and slower over the summer. Stipe is clearly ducking this rematch.

He’s doing exactly what DC did to him after their first fight. He was the longest reigning HW Champ in UFC history, and he should’ve been granted an immediate rematch. DC played games and acted like Stipe didn’t deserve it, and bc of the potential Lesnar fight which was nowhere close to being signed and ultimately didn’t happen. You know the rest. I agree, this fight needs to happen, but Stipe’s eye is still not 100%. Those were some pretty nasty pokes DC dished out. DC can wait.

He is by far the least active UFC champion in recent years. Makes Stipe look bad, just comes off as him wanting to drag things out to let DC get further away from his best. Its not like he dominated DC, he got smoked in the first fight and was losing the rematch until the 4th round, ridiculous to do what hes doing.

The fact that he is a firefighter should mean nothing in terms of his mma schedule. He does it because he enjoys it. A sport should not be held up because he doesn’t want to give up his day job. There is a waiting list a mile long to become a firefighter. It’s not that if he stops working there will be one less man on the job.
