I love guys like Staus. Dude had cardio for days agains Curran. Showed that he trained his ass off for that fight, and I respect that. It's something that's undervalued by most MMA fans.
I like them both, but I think Curran is the better fighter. That illegal/accidental knee changed the whole course of their last fight. Pat became gun shy which in turn allowed Straus to pour it on the decision. (As far as his tweets are concerned) Why is he surprised that the top brass are routing for the guy who has been dishing out exciting finishes vs the one who has not. I am a big Askren fan and think his cut is bs more akin to WWE management than martial arts but after it happened Straus should know his style is not in their good graces.
Nexuscrawlers - Don't their champions have an immediate rematch clause?
No, they don't. Bjorn introduced some ridiculous rematch clause last year when a title fight was so good and competative deserved a rematch. Apparently a shutout by a dominating Straus is good enough for a rematch in Bjorn's eyes. sigh

He may not always finish, but you're crazy if you don't think he puts on exciting fights.
Dude goes hard as fuck every minute of every round. I wouldn't compare his style to Askren at all. He's far more explosive and uses way more striking in his attack.
IMO Curran is more behind in his wrestling than Straus is in his stand-up. I recall the stand-up being competitive before the illegal knee, while Straus completely dominated the grappling.
Interesting fight, but nowhere near what should be the next FW title bout.
Curran could be down 2 in a row in title fights and be damaged as a credible contender for some time.
Can you blame Bellator Curran is a guy that as champ had many people wondering how he would do against top UFC FW's. They put a lot of promotional push behind him with commercials Bellator pays him a lot(based on their standards)exciting fighter that might of had a super fight with chandler down the line on ppv and Daniel isn't any of that. I haven't seen to many people that enjoy his point fighting style.

Yes I can. "Where title shots are earned, not given."
They have two guys that just won tournaments. One of them is the last guy to have to have beaten Straus, the featherweight champion, in Bellator. In fact, that is Straus' only loss in Bellator.
Pitbull's loss to Curran was also a much closer fight than Straus/Curran.
Curran got completely dominated by Straus. Time to give Pitbull a shot then go to Curran maybe.

I don't disagree with what your saying I just think that Bellator knows they need guys they can sell and Curran is one of the few they got. Bellators tourney kills off many quality fighters which makes it extremely difficult to grow a fan base which is why they signed Tito, rampage, and other UFC guys when they said they wouldn't. Bellator needs guys that will get them higher ratings guys that will sell out arenas to where they can turn a profit and they especially need marketable guys if they are staying with this ppv idea.
