Thanks I read the article. For a "club player" with good basic skills(20 yrs of judo) like myself thtat is bit overwhelming. What the elite players do I am not sure.I see them use body weight exercises alot. I know tumbling exercises are very important and used by higher level players from their seminars. I know the most important factor in judo is starting at an earlier age and developing thru practice and competition.

That part made me feel hopeless. Ha. I'm starting in the coming weeks and I'm 26. :|
VU, for the response!
I started around 42. So you won't compete internationally. You can compete at the State level and develope properly thru the ranks(white,green,blue,brown(3 levels) black. If you show good skills you can compete someday at the US Nationals, under 30, and then by age(every 5 years, from 30 up to 80)and weight (55k,60k,66k,81k,90k,100k,100+k). So the future is ahead of you. The key is to practice and develope thru local competitions. It is a 'marathon" so to speak.

Thank you for the info.
Thanks for the repost of this man. I worked hard on it, glad to see someone still occasionally reads it.

VU, thank you. Nice article.

There is no substitute for throwing skills.
Thank you - the original author, as well as MR69 for these articles. I'll definitely be going through them. Oh & I'm a returning Judoka who recently crossed 40s so no spring-chicken here :)
Sta- to a person over 40 who is just getting back in, my advice to you is to take it slowly. Either start light on the weights and build it slowly, or start a little less frequently (say, 5 workouts every 2 weeks instead of 3 per week) until your body adjusts.
