Strikeforce had divisions from Heavyweight to Lightweight for men.
Now the HW, LHW, MW, and WW champs are all from the acquisition of Strikeforce....... Not to mention Strikeforce basically took over the MW division entirely....
How's the UFC feelin about that? They're making the money now so I'm sure they're alright with it but it says something about the level of competition in Strikeforce at the time.
Some would argue that Gil should have won the belt against Benson as well.
Fair enough that Robbie and Werdum fought for the UFC before Strikeforce, but they were still told they were second tier to the UFC at the time. Maybe they didn't have the depth, but their stars were as good or better?
ttt
More proof that historically UFC has never had the best fighters.
In strikefarce they were just some fighters no one ever heard of before in ufc however they are international celebrities
Shouldn't you guys be mad at scott for selling SF to ufc because now these guys like robbie,dc,werdum, rockhold are all making ufc millions of $ making them richer every ppv they fight on
The cream rises to the top. Maybe being in the ufc helped them elevate their game. The best guys from strikeforce are now some of the best guys in the ufc but the mid level or low level guys from strikeforce aren't. Maybe these guys would be the best in whatever promotion they would fight for.
Strikeforce was a perfect organization for these fighters to get ring time against lesser competition.
With that said...Robbie was a 185'er in that promotion.
Porkchop - Strikeforce had divisions from Heavyweight to Lightweight for men.Werdum was pride not strikeforce. Lawler was Ufc before strikeforce. #yawn

Carogan - What it says is that fans are stupid. They go for the glamour and hype of BLAF, Rogan and the UFC rather than the quality of the fights/fighters that were found in other orgs. Strikeforce had to sell because the fans didn't support them financially to the point where they could continue to exist.Agree with most of this.
So the best fighters were happy to fight in Strikeforce or elsewhere at the time (probably due to better treatment by the employer) but in the end had no choice but to work under the UFC banner when the merge acquisition occurred. And now they get Reebok money because fans are stupid.

Ruthless is champ because GSP retired. DC is champ because Jones is suspended. They shouldn't be included.
Every fighter fought somewhere else before they came to the UFC. So please fuck yourself with this dumb shit.
Conor-removed-my-tongue-from-Aldo's-arse - Ruthless is champ because GSP retired. DC is champ because Jones is suspended. They shouldn't be included. It's fair to call Robbie champ. Gsp walked away and probably won't be back.

Imo at the time these guys were in Strikeforce they weren't the best in the world.

.... not sure if serious.....
MAINMAYNARD - Imo at the time these guys were in Strikeforce they weren't the best in the world.
Fair comment. Some of them were pretty green then and Strikeforce helped develop and prepare them for who they are today.
yeah, if anything lawler and diaz were ufc fighters dominating strikeforce.
Porkchop -Agreed but they most definitely would have been competitive and won many fights in the UFC I just don't think they would have beat the champs at that timeMAINMAYNARD - Imo at the time these guys were in Strikeforce they weren't the best in the world.
