Lyoto Machida is one of the greatest alltime fighters. In 10 years when people look back on MMA, they will remember Machida as one of the very greats.
This man possesses budo more than any other fighter. He is budo. Lyoto is pure class, and the most respectful fighter. He is the perfect role model. If you are a young kid and you are looking for a hardworking, honorable fighter to look up to... it's machida. The man honestly has no cruel bone in his body
Strongly Lyoto is one of the best alltime
he is the best karate style mma fighter of all time
Machida is a great fighter witha very intriguing style that went on a tear. I would love to see him become champ again and hold that belt for a while.
My fav current fighter
IMO he is the only one with a decent shot at beating Jones.
Can't wait until he fights again.
I disagree. Great fighter, definitely. But he disappoints me when he talks about his decisions whether they go his way or not. The first Shogun fight he refused to budge at all when he obviously lost that fight. And he complains when he didn't get the nod in the Rampage fight that he clearly lost rnds. 1&2. He is a very, very talented fighter who deserves a ton of credit, but, his comments on/complaining about decisions whether they go his way or not reflects poorly on his Budo. With that being said tho, I'd love to see Him vs. Jon Jones.
psssh ya right bro. he needs to train with greg jackson if he wants to be the 'est in da world
Ttt for the dragon
Don't ride on the back of the success of Strongly Vitor.
The Dragon = one of the greatest
He is the best Urine Drinker of all time

I agree he acts like a spoiled kid sometimes and when he won that belt he became a bit too full of himself.
If you want hardworking, honorable and humble look for Shogun IMO.

I agree on most counts with Shogun, though I have to say, some of the complaints about Lyoto can be made about Shogun. After their first fight, all Shogun would say is that he really won the fight. Whether anybody agrees with the result is null, I think it would've looked better on him to just accept the decision and settle it in the immediate rematch given to him, like he did.
That said, Machida is one of my favorite fighters, but unless he can A) definitively beat Shogun, or B) get the belt back and hold it for a few fights, he won't ever be in the GOAT category. If he is, it will be because of his unique style as opposed to his accomplishments.
a definitive win over Rampage in a rematch wouldn't hurt either.
Its not fair to hold close decision complaining against someone. Almost everyone does it and of course they both thought they won. I thought lyoto won the first fight, alot of people thought he did. Of course i can see the arguement for shogun but lets not pretend that lyoto didnt have a case. It was a close fight
