I have the submission bible and was going to order submission master and the vol I encyclopedia from jakes site. Just wondering about the overlap on these sources. Is it worth owning them all? Is there a lot of different material in the submission master that isn't in the submission bible videos? From the Clips jake has put up it does seem that Fujiwara takes more time in explaining the holds in a slower manner.
The Submission Bible is one of my favorite sets and contains lots of great information from standing to ground and even some jacket wrestling (Sambo) material. You can never own enough of this type of material so getting both sets is always a plus. As well the Submission Master set is a better quality recording and on DVD.
There is some overlap in the material, but not enough to make it a bad investment. I can't remember which techniques this applied to but some of the overlap material included the same techniques but showed something different. If you have the money get them.
Get the Fujiwara-Cardinal clinic too. Haven't seen it yet, but most people I talk to love it, especially as a compliment to the Fujiwara sub master series
"100 Submission Arts" is very good and I have the "Joint Lock Encyclopedia" DVD also by Hidetaka Aso and that is very good as well, although there is lots of overlap between that and the Sub Bible.
I haven't seen that book but I don't see paying that much for a book anyhow aside from collector's reasons. Chances are most if not all of that material can be found in the Sub Bible on video.
The Submission bible is good but I prefer the other SAW videos; the Kansetsu, Ura Kansetsu and Gyakakansetsu. It was like the Submission Bible touched the surface and the others went into more depth.
Speaking of the Submission Bible, It's funny watching Aso make his partner cry with that shinlock. Great stuff.
I have one of these...just never been sure which one it was. I got it off Ebay years ago and the tape was simply titled Submission Arts Wrestling. They go body part by body part starting from the head and they work downwards toward the feet....and when they move to a new body part, there's a kinda robot-like graphic they show. Bill or Jake....which one is this?
I have always felt a little cofusion existed about the Aso videos. The Submission Bibble is very short and has submission wrestling and sambo. The guy on e-bay who sold "the submission bible" was actually selling one of the other videos (ura or whateven not sure).
Guys unfortunately I do not know where one can purchase these videos. I got them years ago and have since lost contact with the person who got ahold of them for me. I do believe there was a website who sold them though they were pricey (maybe budovideos.com??).
Mbajj is correct the Submission Bible is very short kinda like an intro. The others in the set have some Gi techniques and striking. They also have some esoteric holds on them. I always found a correlation with the SAW tapes and the Gokor set (the first one). Lots of similar moves. Though the Gokor set was way overpriced and their were more holds on the Submission Bible alone than the entire Gokor set (I counted).
I haven't wathed the SAW tapes in ahwile but Garage Roller is correct, they have an animated wrestler and a computer focuses on a body part and aso does holds to that part and they move down the body. Some cool stuff.
