SUBMISSION FIGHT LEAGUE
About Us
SFL is a grappling organization which consists of three leagues in Montreal, Gatineau and Quebec, Canada. Some SFL events have recently been held in Belgium, Europe. Martial artists such as judo, Japanese ju-jitsu, wrestling, sombo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA practitioners can face each other regularly on a monthly basis. The SFL has a simple set of rules so that it won't favor a martial art in particular. Like its name indicates, the goal is to apply a technique (e.g. joint locks, chokes) in order to submit his or her opponent. The winner is the one with the most submissions (as opposed to jiu-jitsu, judo or sombo where the fights ends after the first submission) at the end of a six minute round on a matted surface. Like all martial arts, all fights are being held in a atmosphere of highest respect.

So, if we submit someone the fight is not over?
Yes that's it. The winner is the one who have the most submissions after 6 minutes. However the fight will finished before the 6 mins if there's 3 submission difference.
More you have submissions, more you have points for the Championship
CHAMPIONSHIP SCORING SYSTEM
There's 10 points given for a fight
Win by 3 submissions: 10 points
Win by 2 submissions: 9 points
Win by 1 submission: 8 points
Win by forfeit: 7 points
Win by advantage (submission attempt) or decision: 6 points
Draw: 5 points
Loss by advantage: 4 points
Loss by forfeit: 3 points
Loss by 1 submission: 2 points
Loss by 2 submissions: 1 points
Loss by 3 submissions: 0 point
ADVANTAGE POINT FOR SUBMISSION ATTEMPT
A point is rewarded when a competitor put is opponent in danger with a submission attempt. These advantage points are only used when there's no winner by submission after regulation time. If there's no winner by submission AND by advantage, the referee declares a winner by decision or a draw.
Why you can win the championship even if you missed the first 5 events
Only the best 5 results of each fighter are taken into account. So every fighter can accumulate a maximum of 50 points. That's why you can win the championship with only 5-6 bouts and there are newcomers at each event. BUT, the sooner you register, the better your chances to end up in the ranking.
As you can't fight in more than two bouts per event, the event 8 is the last one to register to the SFL Championship.
