I have decided to try and increase me strength for BJJ/ submission wrestling. I have a gym down the road that I can use but it has limited free weights. It has plenty of machines, but I've always been told that training free weights is better than machines as machines control movement for you.
All the free weights are dumbells, and I was hoping someone could suggest a handful of key exercises I should do with them to improve my grappling strength.

PS. Please don't just list the exercises as I probably wont know what they mean, I am a weights rookie and will probably need an explanation of all but the most basic term!
