Your second link (to the priobiotic) isn't correct.
I had a pretty bad bout of gastro a few months ago that came back a few weeks after first recovery and was even worse. Had tests done and wasn't a parasite or anything else ominous but my blood levels indicated that I was fighting some sort of infection.
Since then I've been taking one called Pb-8. Haven't had any issues since, though that doesn't necessarily mean it's effective.
I think you can get everything that you need from diet, but that isn't always possible. I'll do anything to avoid having something like that again, so taking extra precautions with food (no shellfish, no raw vegetables) and adding kim chi and a pro biotic seemed like reasonable steps without breaking the bank.
Also recommend Psyllium to anyone with digestive issues. Been taking it for years and it was a life-changer.
I've had constipation my entire life. I could probably go to the Dr and get it classified as IRB if i wanted to, but that just seems like jumping on a victim bandwagon. It's constipation, complete with gas and an often bloated stomach.
Just on a whim i picked up some acidophilus bifidus capsules in the supermarket a month or so back and started taking one a day. Immediately my digestion kicked up a notch, i got insane gas for a few days, but that settled down and i'm now completely regular for the first time ever.
We need different bacteria in our guts so there is NOT one "best" probiotic. Alternate between a few. For relief of intestinal issues use activated charcoal. For maintenance, probiotics
