Man, I just don’t get it.
I get the people who think the infection rate &/or mortality rate are no big deal, and those who don’t care about losing X% of old &/or sick &/or fat people. I disagree with you as deeply as possible, but I understand where you’re coming from.
& I think the politicization of this topic is stupid & appalling, but I get where you loons are coming from, too.
But why the fuck is anybody fighting for shit most of us can easily do electronically while we wait this thing out? Thanksgiving & church* & dining & cookouts & protesting & entertainment, all that shit, dude do your part, suck it up & forward that Zoom link, come the fuck on.
*If you’re in a fruity cult that has ridiculous shit to say about using electricity during Sabbath (which you routinely figure out how to circumvent but that’s another story altogether) or anything invented past the year 1800, I get where you coming from too, & OK free pass even though you’re the bullshitiest of all the bullshit cults.
There is no “waiting this thing out”… do you think this virus is just going to dissapear?
Also, I have to say seeing non religious OG conservatives, who were previously more libertarian minded, now often openly praising a judiciary that favors religion while still not being personally religious has truly been weird to see over the years.
You think libertarians only care about the constitution when it would benefit them? What an ignorant position
Restrictions should be based on science. And saying that the largest cathedral and the tiniest chapel have the same hard limits is obviously not scientific.
however, hard limits based on total number of people in churches is no different than other mass gatherings that are non-religious. So, churches aren’t really being singled out. If anything, they are getting a special exception. For, as BLAD said, something that absolutely can be done remotely in most cases.
lastly, somebody tell Neil Gorsuch that the liquor store and bike shop owners aren’t suing to get as many people inside their buildings as they can. Those businesses aren’t built around communities filling buildings and singing, and those businesses require an in person interaction, while church services do not.
Well considering the “science” behind covid might as well come from Rogan, I’m fucking glad we have a constitution.

You'll have to show me the judicial ruling that conscripts religion for me to understand what you're saying there. Otherwise you're saying it's weird to see a libertarian minded individual praising a judiciary that protects someone else's liberties. That's exactly what I'd expect from a libertarian minded individual

How easily could you do things electronically without serfs to do shit for you outside the home?
The chick delivering your groceries can’t work electronically, the guy delivering the stuff you ordered from Amazon can’t work electronically, the people working in warehouse clearing centers putting together your packages can’t work electronically, the truckers who deliver shit to and from those warehouses can’t work electronically, the plumber who comes to fix your toilet after a massive post-turkey day ass explosion can’t work electronically, the cops who are enforcing all those Covid regulations can’t work electronically, the utility linemen who keep your power on and internet up and running can’t work electronically, etc, etc, etc.
The people who can work electronically are mostly well-off white collar workers. Everyone else still has to venture out into the world to get shit done. And if they want to go to church after a long day of making life possible for the rich white-collar fucks who are holed up in their homes trying to avoid the 0.03% chance Covid will kill them, then they should be able to do so.

So that’s like all wrong. Nobody is saying they have to go to church, just that the state can’t restrict them. People can chose to do their part and “suck it up” by going to church online, but the state doesn’t have the right to make that choice for them.
People are fighting this because if you don’t oppose government over reach at each step, you’ll eventually be living under its jackbooted heel
He’s ruled in favor of administrative power and executive overreach in every Covid case that has come before the court. It’s pretty clear he is turning into another Anthony Kennedy or, Heaven forefend, another David Souter.

Because humans are inherently social beings. We need physical contact with other humans. Physical interaction. Sitting at home and doing everything over a computer goes against every instinct we have as humans. These measures they have taken to politicize this virus will have way more future consequences than the actual virus.
Thank you Trump for nominating non-activist judges and saving the republic. Clinton, Bush and Obama tried to trample the liberty of the people with their nominations but Trump salvaged the Supreme Court of the land.

If “favoring” is upholding the constitution then great.
The real story is that 4/9 SCJs don't believe the first amendment applies in a pandemic. Not that it *shouldn't*, but that it *doesn't*. Pure alegal activists
This is the biggest takeaway from this decision. If the first is so flexible in times like these, surely those 4 will agree the 2nd is, as well.

Favor means favor. Your right to assemble and your religious freedom are separate.
if limits on gathering (which are implemented all over the world) have exceptions for buildings that are religious, then religion is being favored. Religious assembly is being favored over secular assembly. Right?
now, I realize that in addition to being cuckolds for the religious takeover for the judiciary, OGers are also COVID deniers and scoff at the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans so I expect a completely unreasonable and completely retarded “good, no limits on anything then”!

Liberty comes with risk. No limitations is correct.
Those in the at-risk groups should take precautions. Those not should do as they see fit.
