systema

Has anyone on this forum studied systema? How was the training conducted and what were your opinions of it? Thanks.

i went to a seminar here in NYC about 4-5 years ago with Vladimir Vasiliev..its DEF REAL DEAL hands down

Go to youtube. Watch the systema videos. Laugh hard.

Just don't drink the Kool Aid.

watching a video or gif n ACTUALLY doing it in real time is 2 different things as i found out firsthand n personally with the man himself ...i wouldnt n couldnt lie to u guys about it if i tried.

ss

Did he make you fall over without touching you?

no he didnt do any of that dimmak stuff but clearly he could counter and disarm weapons as i was so CLEARLY demonstrated on.

this was with gun and knife...it wasnt too long after a couple of those i stepped out to watch...it was about 30-40 peeps and NOONE wanted to volunteer freely to try something on his as lol :)

Everyone who trained with Vladimir Vasiliev personally said that he is a badass. I didn´t train with Vlad but with some other instructor and I really like the concepts they have. Personally I think Systema is one of the most efficient but misunderstand art outhere.

i agree bro 100%

Anybody can look good in a pre-rehearsed choreographed demo done at 1/4 speed, and it still looked like crap...

I don't see any of that working on someone coming in with a real attack.

yeah, that video wasn't too impressive ... I think I'll stick with judo & BJJ.

Strategos International has/had a combatives program called Physical Conflict Resolution that's supposed to draw heavily from systema. They used to have some dash cam footage of officers using systema takedowns(ie: the one where they side step and yank you down by the neck) that were very effective.

In theory, it looks badass but I'd rather study the advanced Sombo stuff (looks like San Soo meets aikido and judo).

that video looks gay and totally unrealistic.

While I agree that most students I met couldn´t use it in real fighting I must say that people who really understand it are real badass. I trained with Alex Kostic for the last three days and he is amazing. I never get punched so hard in my  abs in my whole live. And he dind´move more than a few inches. Aamazing guy.

The way he moves and rolls over the ground looks so flawless like he is doing Ginastica Natural for 20 years exept that he could deliver strikes and kicks while rolling and when you got hit it hurts.....
