Seriously, if you're counting effective strikes and the knockdown .. then Haynes has to win that fight. However, because you guys listened too closely to what Spike fed you regarding the outcome ... you subconsiously bought the argument that Tait won, when in reality ... that fight was won by Josh.
Tait had a few moments, but overall he was outstruck ... and when it went down, besides the triangle, he wasn't even close to securing anything, Josh maintained composure and escaped each and every attempt by Tait to submit him.
Also, and this is not a personal knock, but does Tait have any physical strength? He seems to flail about a lot with little to no power behind what he's throwing [including knees, kicks, punches standing & also punches on the ground]. Just an observation.
I think Haynes would be best served to drop to 185 after all is said and done though, he seems really small for 205 [short arms, 5'8"ish, etc...]. Again, just an opinion.
No knocks on the efforts from both guys though ... at least they fought hard, and each was trying his best to win it.
Q: What did Tait do to win that fight? I'm serious as hell here, what did he do?
His striking was weak as heck [excepting a few nice knees], and really the only thing he offered was sub attempts.
...Maybe you guys can replace the judges in Pride that scored the fight for Mino over Ricco?
Sub "ATTEMPTS" don't count for shit .. they don't score points, and unless they do damage and or help set something else up .. then, it's the same as missing an attempted strike ... it's a non factor.
So, all you little BJJer mofos out there that are screaming about how Tait won the fight, etc... Shut up and learn to strike, you limp armed bastards [lol].
Hey Saku Tech .. I'm not quite sure exactly what you meant by that, why don't you explain yourself?
Geese,
That's a big drop from 330 .. Any decent person has to give the dude credit, he's definately worked extremely hard to get himself in great shape from where he started out.
Another note... I am not sure how many people saw Haynes' fight with Shonie Carter, but if you did .. then I think you'll agree he should have taken that decision. I guess when you fight Shonie in The IFC .. you have to put him away to win it, eh?
"Did you not see how Josh fought? He has no, and I mean no grappling, or striking skills. He has an incredibly long climb in this sport."
lol Dude, you're such a pompus asshole sometimes .. It truly amazes me.
He escaped all but one of Tait's submission attempts .. so, you're also saying that Tait sucks at submissions? I am a little confused here.
IMO Josh wanted to keep it standing and work for the KO/TKO win .. He didn't seem to be interested in fighting on the ground at all, and the strange thing about that is .. is that's exactly where he usually likes to fight.
I think he wanted to play away from Tait's lone strength and keep it standing, and while he definately wasn't burning it up on the ground .. he certainly wasn't being tooled on by Tait at all.
he was not knocked down. He got hit and tried to pull guard because he thought Josh was going forward and going down, but Josh didn't.
Josh did NOT outstrike Tait. Tait scored way more with his jabs. How could you not see it???
Effective strikes?? If you had a dude with a haymaker once or twice, does it negate the 50 jabs that he hit you with earlier?
If Tait only had a few flash moments with subs, then what do you call the knees that Tait landed in the clinch to Josh's nothing that he landed in the clinch????? Even if you count Josh's knockdown, which wasn;t really a knockdown, when did Josh really score with effective strikes at all in either round???
If Tait had no power, then why was Josh bleeding from the nose and mouth (not including opening up the cut on the eye) and Tait just had a few bruises???
You say that Tait only scored with knees and sub attempts, but what did Josh score with??? No takedowns, no knockdowns and no effective strikes?? (if they were more effective than Tait's he would be bleeding not Tait)
Also, I am not a Tait nuthugger, as I called Josh to be in the finals against Bisping, but after seeing the fight, no way did he really win the fight. Tait has nothing to be ashamed about except not being able to finish the triangle or when he had Josh's back. (sidenote, Tait came closer to finishing many times where Josh was no where near finishing in either round at any time)
OK, just an observation here .. but, based on the name "FearMir" I think we can all very safely assume that you're a BJJ fan?
No, I don't agree at all ... In fact, if you read my posts then you'll see that I felt Tait was extremely sloppy, and ineffective with about 90% of his strikes [and the rest definately were NOT devastating].
He flopped to guard right after Josh landed a shot? Bullshit...lol That's so freakin blind and biased, and plainly shows you bought all of the crap that was being laid out after the fight [mostly by Ken and Tait].
I never said Josh was impressive, but he was the more effective fighter and deserved to win that fight.
Tait wont that fight hands down. He did a lot more than Josh. The only thing Josh did was throw wild punches and tire himself out. Tait pushed the fight, worked harder on the ground, kept going for submissions. Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about NHB said that Tait won the fight. And I agree.
That fight, without doubt, should have gone a 3rd round.BUT,it did'nt and the decision was hard to swallow. Not that I thought Josh won,but I thought NO one won.But o well.Decent fight.Congrats Josh.Tait, keep your head up and hope to see you fighting in the near future.
"He flopped to guard right after Josh landed a shot? Bullshit...lol That's so freakin blind and biased"
Actually while I agree with you that Josh landed the better shots, Ray Charles with quarter taped over his eyes could have seen that Taited flopped to guard ofter Josh landed the shot at the end of the fight. This was so obviously intentional on Tait's part... I was amazed Josh fell for it! The one being "blind and biased" is you.
Tait clearly won the second round, Josh gassed badly.
I was hoping Tait would lose because I was getting tired of hearing him talk, but he got screwed big time. For someone who allegedly has no striking skills he managed to bust Josh Haynes face open pretty good. Should have been a 3rd round at the very least.
