Tamiflu

Anyone ever take tamiflu prophylacticly? I have a prescription, don't have the flu at the moment but it's reaching epidemic levels in my area and I cannot afford to get sick right now?
Anyone ever taken this stuff? Worth it or not?

Tami Flu would be an interesting choice for a porn name. Don't you think?

Probably more appropriate for a Garbage Pail Kid card or something.

It only works if you start taking it within 24-48 hours from the onset of your symptoms, start it too late, don't bother taking it.

Yeah, I know. It can also be taken before you get sick at all if your going to be around sick people which I am.
I was wondering if any one had taken it to prevent the flu and if so did it work?

This is false buddy.

I refused to get a flu shot for my work and had to take that shit so I could still work and it made me so sick! RIP.

dhughes - Why not get the flu shot?

I know at least 5 people who have still come down with the flu this year, even after getting the flu shot.

Proactively it will not be effective. It combats viral infections already present in your system. As others have mentioned, take it as soon as you have symptoms and it will significantly decrease the duration and severity.

Having said all this, it will not...sadly..., do anything for your existing herpes viral infection.

It doesn't prevent or "cure" the flu. It only decreases the duration and severity of your symptoms buddy.

Don't take tamiflu prophylactically. The side effects are similar to flu symptoms. You prob want to wait until the illness is actually worse than the cure in this case.

While the vaccination does cover all strains it covers the most common ones and is 100% worth getting every year.

This was my first year, no flu yet!!

It's worthless. In theory it shortens the duration of the flu but does not help with the symptoms.

The side effects for most people are terrible.

Unless your old and weak immune system don't take it.

Thanks everyone. Great advice. I'll hold off taking it
