I understand that Orlando happens to be more centrally located, is equipped with larger venues (?), plus has several amenities that undoubtedly generates more appeal with visitors. That probably explains why more tournaments are held in that region of the state.
However, Tampa is an attractive and prominent city with several BJJ and MMA schools not to mention academies in surrounding couties. Why hasn't someone within the Tampa area stepped up to the plate to try and organize something right here in our own back yard? Perhaps plans are already underway? If so then I spoke prematurely, If not, then someone with organizational and PR skills give this issue more than the usual concern and bring a tournament of prominence to fruition to our beloved Tampa area?
the florida federation is planning on running a 4 round series in 2006. The plan is to have two rounds in places other than Orlando. I am sure south florida will be one. Unsure about the other, depends on how hard it is to find a reasonable place to have it. The 2005 is the first year we are doing the series. By 2006, we will have it down and be picking it up! Hope this helps a little.

If I've thought this far in advance then certainly someone with further insights and "SKILLS" has contemplated having a tournament in this area? Forget the circuit and the BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... Git ur dun! You don't have to be all that bright but some connections would be helpful.
