CONGRADULATIONS to Tara LaRosa for winning her match in Japan last night, against Megumi Yabushita! She got the DECISION ^_~ For more information, check out the fightergirls.com thread:
Congrats to LaRosa for a big win against world class competition.
Here's Tara's post from that thread on fightergirls.com. Notice the respect and humility. Classy stuff.
(oh, and I have to say it -- LOL at the UG. So much for "the wicked Japanese judges".)
"ok...the show is over. i was terribly nervous, but didnt puke this time. i knocked her down in the first round and they gave her a standing 8. i landed a few more shots, and she threw me nicely. i took her back from the ground, but was unable to sink the choke. i ended up with her in my guard and worked for the elbow roll (reversal) but couldn:t get it.
2nd round no real exchange standing, and she got the judo throw again. i took her back and struggled to get the hook in. she slide me around so that she was in my guard, i tried for a shoulder lock and an armbar, and got a catch, but i didn:t have perfect position to complete it. we got stood up and she went for the throw again and i landed on top of her and i tried to take back again, i saw her set?@up for the wrist lock and i hit this move that i have been working specifically to counter it. it kept me safe but i couldn:t finish her.
judges decision... i won.
you know..... she was very nice before and after the fight. and inspite of what erin says i still have nothing but respect and admiration for megimi yabushita and i still would have even if i lost. she does what she has to to win. and the wrist lock sit out that she does has become something of a phenomenon, i saw 2 of the guys go for in in shooto last night. roxi... i think you should try to get a rematch. fight each other when you are fresh and not having had a fight previously the same night. to me it is the highest honor to have fought here in japan. everyone has been wonderful. all the other girls were just so nice as well, no hatred or meanness, or holier than thou egos. this has been my dream... and it came true... thankyou to everyone that made this possible!"
