so, whats the deal with Nate Quarry no longer being in team Quest? I remember him briefly talking about it on TAGG Radio last month, something about him having an ego problem? Not sure, sounded like he was joking.
Now I'm hearing that Lindland was bad mouthing him?
SO, what's the deal. Wasn't he one of Randy's golden boys in TUF 1, when Randy was still part of TQFC?
I went out and got these boxing coaches, kickboxing coaches, the black belts in jiu-jitsu," he said, "and the main reason was that those things weren't available at Team Quest."
Eventually Quarry approached the team's Portland, Ore., leaders and expressed his concern. He says he made it clear that he wanted to stay with Team Quest, but he asked for certain concessions. In Quarry's view, he was paying outside trainers for coaching he couldn't get at Team Quest while still paying the team "quite a bit" of his fight purses.
Quarry says the conversation turned ugly: "I was told that it didn't matter what I did, that I was always going to be unhappy and that they weren't going to bend over backwards to try and make that happen. And, quite literally, I was told that I had the biggest ego of anyone in the gym and that I was tearing the gym apart."
In the end Quarry couldn't reach an agreement with the team. "It came down to a business decision, and I had to do what I felt was best for me," he says. "And they felt that by me not being there at Team Quest, it was best for them."
Team Quest captain Matt Lindland (Pictures) wouldn't give a detailed account of Quarry's departure, but he did say via text message that he feels Quarry is just a sad, angry guy.
"Nate Quarry's ability to understand business arrangements is commensurate with his ability to avoid Rich Franklin (Pictures)'s left hand," Lindland said.

Completely inappropriate of Lindland. Taking a shot at a guy by making a personal insult about a performance where he came up short is just unprofessional. Lindland has several instances from his own career that would be less than flattering if brought up merely to dog him.
Don't use the Quary incident to paint Team Quest with a broad brush.
Conflicts always exist in business and on teams; this is no different. I've
trained at Team Quest numerous times and they are a first class group of
guys and trainers.
Hendo, Couture and Rob Follis all started out with SBG.
Tom Oberhue and Mike Chapman from SBG-Team Impact are class acts. And to tell you the truth..when I was in Oregon the last year and a half before I moved back to hawaii..there were a bunch of Team Quest fighters that moved across town to the new Braveheart Gym because of something going on at TQ.
Chris Wilson manages the amateurs for TQ-Gresham. Matt Lindland had him pull all of the TQ fighters from a rival show a WEEK before the show to try and cause the show to fail...that's classless
Nate Quarry has always been a class act. Classy in wins, classy in losses.
