This just in from the fellows in LA at the Pan-Ams...Matt "Hammer" Haché has won the SILVER in the mens BLUE BELT lightweight division. Matt won four fights to make it to the finals where he lost a close match on points to a very strong competitor from Japan. Amazing job!! Nick Castiglia fought a very tough fighter in the BLUE BELT middleweight division losing by a tight triangle submission in his first fight. We are very proud of both of our fighters for competing at the world level and representing Canada, Team Renzo Gracie and Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts. OAMA has only been open for a year and half and our students have already accomplished some amazing results. Through hard work, dedication and perseverance anything is possible.
I just wanted to say that I am so proud of Nick and especially Hammer for there performances today. Look at Matts record this year so far Grapplers Quest bronze and gold also he took the gold at the Arnolds and he then follows up with a silver at the Pan-Ams. This is realy impressive for someone who has only been a blue belt for a year. I would wager to say that Matt is problly the most accomplished Canadian blue belt as of right now and after Matt blows of a little steam tghe next week or two he will start to focus on the Mundials in Rio in July. Nick Matt and myself would like to thanks everyone who has helped with all the hard training this medal is for the whole team.
By the time this post was made we had already been there. And as a reminder guys Renzo Black Belt Shawn Williams will be up in Ottawa for a week to teach spread the word to the guys at the Academy it will be off the hook Shawn is a great teacher
Matt Hammer Hache was also asked to represent the USA team versus Brazil due to his outstanding performance in the lightweight division he had a great fight but came up short by one advantage taking second Matt was very happy to be asked to fight and represent the USA I think this shows without a doubt here are big thing on the horizon for this Team Renzo Ottawa fighter
