Would'nt this technically be a knock out, because he put him to sleep. a Technical submission would be like the Mir Silvia fight when the Ref stopped it during a submission.. ?????????????????
.
.
if an opponent doesn't tap, and the referee stops it, that makes it a technical knockout in my eyes. inherent in the word "submission" is the concept of surrender. if the individual under attack does not submit, he is not surrendering, and therefore the victory is not due to sumbmission.
Tecnical submission... ffs, new cool lingo for the game of MMA. Neer was submitted, even though he didnt tap he was put in a submissive position that he couldnt defend, he was submitted via RNC. Tecnical submission my arse lol.
Its not a KO cause it was the result of a submission hold that put him into the state of unconsciousness not a blow.
Its a submission.
Tecnical submission.. really.. camaaaan.
TTT
even though the term "knock out" is associated with incapacitation due to a blow, i feel that its definition is not as specific as that of "submission."
to me, the word submission means that one has yielded or surrendered to something, whereas knock out means that one is incapacitated and unable to continue. how can an outside force intervening (such as a ref) be considered giving up? it doesn't; it means that the individual is considered to be unable to continue, and is therefore "knocked out." kind of like me when i drink too much.
Technical submmission is correct!
Mir's win was announced as a TKO, even though Nog did eventually tap, but Jones's win was announced as a submission victory while Machida did not tap.
I don't get it.
If a contestant is choked unconscious or arm gets broken from a submission it is a technical submission. If they knocked down from a punch (and connot continue but not out cold) or not defending punches from a mount, or any position, it is a TKO.
The term "knock" is not more important than "out", but the words together imply a strike. This was a submission. Neer did not tap, making it a technical submission.
