techniques u learned/drilled but never pulled off?

Am I alone in this or does everyone have a technique that learned but just could never pull off in training or in competition?

For me it has been the basic straight foot lock, learned it as a new blue and even now that I am into my purple I can not pull it off? Lol, I can hit kneebars and toeholds but just can never get the footlook! Dam it.. Lol

Anyone else??

That leg lasso inversion to omoplata. It's the first move they teach you when you learn the leg lasso and I've never seen it used successfully in live rolling. Phone Post 3.0

anything spider guard or dlr related. I use them to avoid the pass and get back to open guard, but never actually sweep from them.

No Armbars, Triangles or Omoplatas!!! --Oh, Gi chokes too... never gotten a gi choke or even a naked choke. Not once. Don't recall getting any leg locks now that I think about it. Nor Wrist locks --and shoulder locks of any kind, for some reason, just don't seem to be in the cards for me. Never been able to pull off a sweep or reversal either. No Take-downs. --Oh and I can't get out of stuff at all, like escapes. Clueless.

Other than that, I'm pretty solid.

Armbar from the guard Phone Post 3.0

Not to hijack your thread but I have your same problem. I cant seem to ever get that straight footlock. Anyone have any tips that changed how they apply this sub? I hate cranking it too, since I feel like I dont have it on correctly most of the time (so I let it go and move on). Dont want to be that dude cranking on a poorly applied submission Phone Post

the armbar from closed guard everyone gets taught with foot on hip and you move your head over. I hit armbars from open guard but from closed everyone knows whats going on and just postures up real hard pulling their arm out

Watch the instruction part in "rolled up" with sambo Steve. Phone Post

funny thing is that if you quit trying the damn move for a long while, you eventually will pull the damn thing off when your body is on autopilot.

Cross collar choke from guard, I'm horrible with that choke for some reason. My gi chokes in general need a lot of work. Phone Post 3.0

With the straight ankle lock try being on your side and not your back. Berimbolo is my weak point Phone Post 3.0

Really? This is like my go to from leg lasso.

And I second the cross choke from the guard; I never see anyone hit this except my instructor lol Phone Post 3.0

Me 2^ can't hit it with resistance. Phone Post 3.0

The palm up / palm up choke from mount and from guard.

To the guys who can't do the straight ankle lock: check out the iTunes app from this guy Kenny from gladiators academy in Dallas. I can't remember the name of the app but it is badass. It shouldn't be hard to find.

He is a long time black belt under Carlos machado and he is absolutely lethal with straight ankle locks. I'm not going to name names but some high level guys have tapped to his. He is also an engineer or something and breaks down this submission in great detail and has a methodology to beat common counters.

I used to be completely unable to finish a straight ankle lock but using his system I have become very proficient at them. This is a very easy submission to get and I think if you follow his checklist you will find that you are doing some detail completely incorrectly. Phone Post 3.0

Sorry the guys name is kenny McClure and he is from octagon mma in Dallas

Here is the app:

hey Gianni, I tried the link and it redirects me to Itunes. I tried to get it but Itunes said it is currently unavailable in the USA for now. Any idea what's going on and how I might still be able to get it? thanks

I've never hit the standard armbar setup from closed guard.
