In 2003 he lost in the finals against Werdum, looking a little spazzy at some points. For example, when Werdum was turtled up he just explosively ripped him straight backwards to take his back. In another instance, they were facing each other with Leite standing and Werdum kneeling, and Leite just charged forward tackling Werdum backwards. Both of these things can result in injury.
Anyways, he trained at Alexander Paiva's in Rio but he may be training more with Brasa now.
