This "fight" took place right before I started following the sport on a daily basis....
Back then I remember hearing that Wand was pissed that he had to fight Yvel so he booted him in the nuts to get out of the fight....
Is there any truth to that? I know Wand threw more leg kicks back then....but that was a perfectly placed ball squisher....
Tell me UG....
Myth, They didnt like each other but i doubt it was to get out of the fight. Yvel had zero groundgame and Wand had already choked Dirty Bob who had KOd Yvel on the feet
That just looks intentional to me......
Rematch!
Yvel took the easy way out.

I asked Yvel if he thought that Vanderlei deliberately kicked him in the nuts in order to avoid fighting him. He said that he thought this was the case.
lol at "intentional".
If it was intentional, I highly doubt he'd throw a front, left-leg kick.
It was a leg kick and he can see Yvel step in on it at the same time. Not intentional at all.
LOL, it was intentional.
Thanks Redneck....
....it looks like I waited the proper amount of time to ask this question......
Had the look of an intentional "accident" at the time, for sure.
I think Wand was just trying to get his shots in first. You knew what you were in for with Yvel & Wand just opted for a preemptive stike.
Yvel pussed out
What fight was it where the guy's cup broke and I think they took him out on a stretcher (could be making that part up...). Almost positive it was in Pride.

It was talked about on other forums at the time that Yvel definitely pussed out.

Matsui vs. Rampage?
Did NOT look like all that hard of a kick to me....
Especially going by some of the "nutkicks" we've seen lately.

Yep, I think that's the one. Thanks.
ACE won DEAL with it - var so = new SWFObject("http://www.youtube.com/v/hXYWQg_5qS8&hl=en&fs=1&", "postVideo-26777037-Flash", "425", "355", "9.0.28", "##000"); so.addParam("allowScriptAccess", "samedomain"); so.addParam("allowNetworking", "internal"); so.addParam("wmode", "transparent"); so.write("postVideo-26777037"); Judge for yourself.
I never understood why people record off a computer screen.

First of all, LOL @ the need to even include this. Classic noob insecurity.

What? Where did you hear that "Wand was pissed that he had to fight Yvel"?
As Diego already noted, Wanderlei had been willing to fight Dirty Bob, a very heavy-hitting (and as his name says, very "dirty") HW who had already KO'd Yvel. Wanderlei was even willing to fight Cro Cop under adapted, more K1-favorable rules as well.
And after Igor KTFO'd Bueno, Kid Peligro reported about how the mood in the Brazilian locker room was just funereal afterwards, and how when someone asked who would ever be willing to face the powerful juggernaut, the whole room fell silent - until Wanderlei jumped up and went into a rage about how he would fight Igor, how he would even fight him that night, that he would fight anyone, anytime, anywhere... And everyone knew that he meant it - as he has lived up to consistently throughout his career.
So why the fuck was Wanderlei "pissed that he had to fight Yvel"? Much less felt the need "to get out of the fight."
Now Yvel WAS adamant, though, in claiming afterwards that Wanderlei had done it on purpose - citing how Wanderlei was known as a dirty fighter (which Wandy did have a reputation for being at the time - although coming from Yvel, the irony is rich). While at the same time, Wanderlei claimed that Yvel was the one who was really exaggerating its effect, and who used the groin-kick as an out.
So there was some real beef between them after that fight, with both of them trading public barbs with each other in interviews (pretty much with each calling the other a cheater or pussy).
(Btw, you really never could have imagined at that point that some day these two would have not only reconciled, but even be training together. But then again, you could have likewise never imagined Wanderlei ever leaving Rudimar and Chute Boxe as well - or even inviting BTT enemies like Arona and Filho to come train with him now. Time stultifies everything.)

Exactly. At the time, the forums were mostly talking about how it was YVEL who had been the one who pussed out - not Wanderlei.
So I don't how it's been revisionist-reversed now so that someone is now claiming he can "remember hearing" more about how people thought Wanderlei was the one who had wanted "to get out of the fight."
Yvel pussed out.
Hey whistle....I don't give a shit if you think I'm a noob...
Thanks to everybody else that responded....and wb - don't bother writing a 500 page response...I have you on ignore now...
