The Tennessee Athletic Commission plans is launching an investigation into a post-event brawl that concluded the CBS-televised "Strikeforce: Nashville" event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville this past weekend.

MMAjunkie.com today contacted Jeffrey Mullen, the commission's director, who declined to comment on the situation until the commission's investigation is complete. No timetable was given, but the investigation could lead to disciplinary action for those involved.

The commission is likely to investigate who's to blame for the fiasco. Additionally, officials from the regulatory body surely will re-evaluate procedures that allowed so many cornermen and other camp members to enter the cage.

If Coker doesn't do anything about this, then it shows that he doesn't have control over his product.

Not really... it's the governing athletic body, not Strikeforce, that is charged with keeping unwanted visitors out of the cage.

This is why we can't have nice things...

Jason was in Dan's corner, it's not like he descended from the ceiling on a wire with baseball bat in hand like Sting from WCW or some shit.

LOL, ok.

Tell me, oh knowledgeable one, who is charged with maintaining order and safety in the cage:  Strikeforce, or the athletic commission?

Every promotion that I have ever worked for...the gatekeeper was in charge of authorized personnel.

Tell me, oh knowledgeable one who was the unwanted visitor the AC was at fault for not keeping out of the cage?   Dan's cornermen or the entire 209/CG entourage/crew?

Rewatch the post-fight... at one time Dan and his corner was in the cage (Dan exited shortly after) while there was literally like 7-10 CG/209 guys PLUS Jake and his corner in the cage.

The SAC's are supposed to control who enters the cage, but it's been very apparent @ past SF events that they don't.  Fedor had like half of fucking Russia in the cage with him after he KOed Rodgers.

Interesting how you begin your post in response to my first (unwanted visitor) rather than just answering the post you quoted, oh knowledgeable one, about who is charged with maintaining safety and order in the cage.

It' also interesting how you ended up answering the question yourself.

The SAC's are supposed to control who enters the cage, but it's been very apparent @ past SF events that they don't.

So... it IS the athletic commission's responsibility, a completely separate entity than the MMA organization, but your point is that the AC's at the Strikeforce shows (only the Strikeforce shows, right?) are inadequate, thus leaving the blame on Strikeforce?

Is that really your argument?  And tell me what other Strikeforce show was it "very apparent" that they don't control things?

Uncle Justice,

I am one of the gatekeepers that is in charge of who enters the cage.

 someone ttt the brawl thread/wvideo

Shields threw the first punch - how can anyone else be to blame? So Miller went in to the Cage, so what? It happens all the time.

It was Shields who threw the 1st punch.

I was 5 rows from the cage and just to the right of Dan's corner. Jason was NOT one of Dan's cornermen. I could have walked into the cage after any fight I wanted.

 blue63,

Let me apologize for being a little pissy on this thread yesterday. Your post about me miscontruing everything is weird as hell, so let's start over.

I'm under the impression that:

1. Mayhem was NOT already in the cage because he was cornering Hendo, thus why Mayhem apologized for entering the cage when he shouldn't have.

2. The athletic commission is supposed to monitor who comes in and out of the cage, and definitely who maintains safety and order in the cage.  Also relevant to this point is that Scott Coker said no one from Strikeforce let Mayhem into the cage.

Now, can you explain further what you meant by this post:

The SAC's are supposed to control who enters the cage, but it's been very apparent @ past SF events that they don't.

3.  I found it odd that we're arguing who is supposed to control who enters the cage, when you concede to the only point I'm trying to make in the sentence above (AC's).  So your opinion is the same as mine?

4.  Can you expand on your statement that "it's been very apparent @ a past SF events that [the AC's] don't control things?  Are you just talking about the large entourage that Fedor had in the cage?

My picture was simply a Ghostbusters reference.  FYI

Thanks for the info- as the gatekeeper, were you employed by the promotion, the venue, or the athletic commission?

I have been employed both by the promotion & the venue.I usually served a duel role in setting up & taking down the cage & providing security within it.

No one should be in the cage without the approval of the Athletic Commission

looks like lil gil is goin to jail :)
