“Estou voltando às minhas origens e treinando de novo com o mestre Gigi (Alexandre Paiva). Quero ganhar este Brasileiro e voltar a ajudar o esporte a crescer. Não penso em lutar o Mundial porque fui deportado dos Estados Unidos e não posso voltar para lá. Também não penso em lutar o Mundial profissional, porque eu não luto pelo dinheiro, agora luto apenas pela medalha de ouro e para incentivar a garotada do morro”, contou Tererê.

Ano passado, Tererê chegou a diputar duas lutas casadas de Jiu-Jitsu no Rio, vencendo uma e perdendo outra.
