Terrible Judo injury (vid)

My roommate mangled his knee bad at a Judo tourney this weekend, here's the vid, start watching at 14 sec

Makes me cringe, if you watch in slow motion you can hear 3 distinct popping sounds

oh man :(

thanks for the embed +1

He'll find out the extent of the injury on Friday when he gets an MRI on the knee, needless to say he's expecting surgery and a long road of rehab

ouch...good luck to him

Man that's rough. Hope for a speedy recovery Phone Post 3.0

Judo is rough as fuck. Anybody training judo knows, fingers, ankles, toes... shit gets wrecked regularly. It's a tough sport.

Damn, did I just hear the knee pop/crunch or was this my imagination?

Hope he has a super fast recovery. I Feel really bad for him. But he'll be a trooper I'm sure.

It looks like opponent took it kind of hard too. Nice to see someone who isn't gloating or celebrating over hurting a fellow competitor.

This. I was constantly injured in some way literally the entire time I trained in Judo. Luckily, no serious knee injuries. Definitely some close calls...

I tore my Meniscus really bad at Judo. Phone Post 3.0

second time watching took me to see the leg twist.

Seriously though, knee's fucking suck. Blew mine out in BJJ a couple years back and it has never been the same. Walking with a limp when your 26 eats shit sandwiches all day.

It was an interesting match.

Props to both players not wasting time before attacking once they closed distance.

I was there watching it happen and heard the pop and scream and pretty much knew at that point that it was a terrible injury, would never wish that on 'my worst enemy'

Unfortunately was not your imagination :(

His opponent did feel really bad, the Judo community is pretty small around here so they knew each other prior to the match, they talked for a while afterwards and there's no hard feelings.

MRI results are in

Grade 3 sprained MCL

no cartilage damage or any other major damage
