I think that after Euphoria...people are starting to realize just how exciting LW fighters are. Look at the threads about this past Euphoria show....All have had nothing but praise for the show. I think with shows and cards like that one, with quality fighters and people organizing like that....We will hopefully start to see LW tourneys to be the best shows in the world...Ex. Pride & UFC.
I mean look at the KO's Yves has had and continues to have...along with really tough guys like Rich Clementi...and Joachim Hansen...and of course Hermes Franca....not to mention the possible future match-ups in the LW division...like Marcus Aurelio, Caol Uno, Genki Sudo, etc.
I feel that the UFC doesn't want to promote the LW's as much as they do the big boys...but the LW's "usually" give us the best performances.
I think as fight fans...we need to appreciate and continue to support shows like Euphoria because they are about giving us fans what we want to see....A GREAT SHOW!.....
so from us at SteinerWear.com.....thank you Euphoria!!
I really enjoy watching the lightweights and this past weekend was very exciting for me. The upcoming second round macthups are going to be big time as well in the Euphoria tourney.
For me, the lightweights and the welterweights are a blast to watch because these guys move alot and pretty much all are very well rounded guys.
The middle weights and lightheavies are fun too because they can really throw some leather and and you can see their power.
The heavies REALLY throw some leather, but they tend to be less well rounded and may gas a little bit.
But for me the most exciting fights are the ones with the guys with all around skill is high, and they can push a fight the full 3 rounds. That is best represented in the lightweight and welterweight division IMO.
i agree. fighters at 155 and 170 are generally much more skilled and fun to watch. they are used to training with big guys so they have to have good technique to catch anyone. they also are generally in better shape. when the lightweights go for 3 rounds, you see a lot more action on average than when heavies go the same distance. the toughest division out there is the 155lb class. its much easier to name 5 or 6 top guys in that weight class than in any other. the ufc has made a huge mistake by downplaying the role of the lightweight division. they have to be well rounded because otherwise, they'd get eaten alive in training.
