Hey Guys! AJ here from the Extreme Grappling Open~

I just want to thank everyone for coming out to the Louisville Tournament this past Saturday. It ran very smoothly, and there were some great matches! Congrats to our invite winner Tom Feister! He took home a championship belt and $500!

I'm working on typing up the full results now, and James will have some video online for you ASAP.

Also ~ be sure to save the date for October 18th. We'll be doing our SUPER EGO and there are going to be lots of excited things happening! Stay tuned for details.

Thanks again,

Congrats Tom! Let me guess... triangle chokes?

Actually, Tom won the first and last match with armbars. He did win his second match with a triangle!

AJ,How is Luke Wortley competing as a white belt? are you aware that kid is a judo black belt, ranked nationally I believe.John Wortley, his dad, competing as a blue belt? He is a 4th or 5th degree judo black belt.

Thanks for the heads up. It's something to look into. It's hard to know what people's back grounds are in other martial arts. I'm sure that there are several Judo black belts out there that are white and blue belts in jiu-jitsu. Although being able to throw someone is helpful, it doesn't always mean that you are good at jiu-jitsu. However, due to there experience in judo (just as it would be with a wrestler), they are required to compete in a more advanced division in the no-gi. I have to assume that the rank that they are given in jiu-jitsu by their instructor is what they deserve and is the rank at which they should be competing.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks!
AJ
