judge the fight as a complete fight.
What is the point of domining the first rounds if at the end of the fight you get killed.
UFC is trying to follow too much boxing.
a fight should be judged as a whole.....even if you dominate the first rounds but almost get killed at the end, you deserve to lose because in the street, the last man standing win. It is not fucking tennis!!!
Pride was judging the fight as a whole and it is why it gave us the greateast battle. the fighter were not trying to win a round by pinpointing....but were trying to win A FIGHT!!!!
Dan won the match.....but Shogun won the fight.
No.
Double post
correct....dana should do something about it
I garantee you the fight would be much much much much much more exciting....because people would always be thinking about winning the fight instead of trying to end the round in a dominant position on top in order to look good.
Absolutely. To have a guy who is dominating at the end lose.....is tragic.
vruntson - Absolutely. To have a guy who is dominating at the end lose.....is tragic.
correct
Guys would just hold out until the last round to give it their all.
it would go something like ...
10-10
10-10
10-10
10-10
10-9
Hendo smashed Shogun for 3 rounds and Shogun had an unproductive mount for the entire 5th round.
Judge the whole fight as a whole, my ass. Hendo won the fight.
drof - Guys would just hold out until the last round to give it their all.
this
Hendo would have won under Pride scoring, considering that their number one criterion was effectively attempting to finish the fight. See Hendo-Ninja, where Ninja outwrestled Dan for most of the fight, but lost due to being rocked by an H-bomb.
I had it 47 47 Draw. Part of the unified rules is affective grappling and Rd 5 was all grappling dominated by Shogun. Mounted and pass guard countles time. Ground and pounded Hendo the whole rd. 10-8 rd 5
Shogun wins with pride rules
Its a draw with ufc rules

Dan plays it differently with Pride rules ...

Dan wins under either system.
In Pride, the fight would have only been twenty minutes.
Shogun's dominant fifth round would never have happened.
^^^^ This
Leave it to the french to come up with this whiny butt hurt thread. Hendo owned that fight under either set of rules. Ugh! Morans!
glad i thread search before starting one. i would like to see more debate on this from people.
i was thinking the same thing right after the fight..under unified mma scoring, hendo won the fight, but in pride scoring? when the fight ended, shogun was on top. who the hell knows what the pride judges would have said. take into account the shotty judging.
I agree. I felt the same way after the Aldo/Hominick fight. Sure Aldo won more rounds, but seeing a fighter get dominated in the 5th round and then awarded a decision doesnt feel right.
Dan won. Get over it. He wins in Pride as well. A 20 minute fight. With the 1st round being 10 minutes, LOL Dan finishes Shogun in the 1st.
