The 90s Grunge Rock Era big 4

You know how metal had a big 4 that toured together. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. Would the grunge big 4 have been Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Sound Garden. Does that sound about right? Phone Post 3.0

Yep, that'd be the 4.

5  would be Jane's Addiction.  Which actually predates Nirvana.  THey aren't grunge, per say, but they changed music.

Stone Temple Pilots and Smashing Pumpkins should be in there...

I like both of those bands but if we're talking the big 4 then they don't make the cut.

i take smashing and stp over pearl jam and soundgarden

Yes, those ended up being the big 4, but some others were Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, the Melvins, Malfunkshin, Green river, Mother Love Bone, Tad, etc. I would never consider Smashing Pumpkins or Jane's Addiction as grunge bands.

Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains. Never cared for Pearl Jam.

There's a huge drop off in talent level after you go beyond the big 4 Phone Post 3.0

That's your personal taste and I respect that. But neither of those bands had the impact on the scene as much as the big 4 in the op.

Tad isn't in the big 4 but they should at least be like the Testament of grunge Phone Post 3.0

While i like just about every band mentioned so far

Lets not get into a pissing match over which band fits in which box

Are they grunge, alternative. Punk, nu rock, hard core etc

Dont try to put it in neat lil categories, its just music;)

Drives me nuts when people argue over which band goes in which genre Phone Post 3.0
