The aftermath of saturday night...

First off let me say that I thought Hopkins won the fight. Taylor was the flashier puncher in the first few rounds and did throw some 3-4 punch flurries but they were wide and blocked by Hopkins.

Hopkins walked him down in the middle rounds and by 10,11 and 12 had on staggering. All right enough of that, a decision win/loss like that is always in the eye of the beholder.

The interesting thing to me is this is the first time Bernard has had to negoiate a big fight w/o the trump card of the belts. Will he swallow his pride to take a 70/30 split to get the rematch ? We know the relationship with Dibella but ultimately money will be the deciding factor. Do you think we will see them again in November for part 2 ?

are you serious ?

Hopkins is a lesson in boxing. Taylor was/is bigger, stronger, faster but by round 7 was gassed and in retreat mode. He threw wide punches and punched in flurries. Hopkins walked him done, counter punched and nearly had him out.

Like him or not Hopkins is a superior technical fighter. To even compare him to Ruiz is asanine.

Taylor will not have 1/2 the career of Hopkins because in 3-5 years there will be a new stronger, faster more agile fighter and taylor has no plan B.

He is a genetic freak but I question his boxing skills.

I was fuming mad ready to write a witty retort to the last two posts, until I saw they were by Gator Man.

Hopkins is an enigma in that he has held up for so long. 20 defenses while staying at the same weight for 15 years is unheard of.

On Oct 1st Hopkins picks up where he left off and pressures Taylor until he wilts.

I had it a draw. And was bending over backwards to give any early rounds to Hopkins.
