So I go into this store. Wicked cool store btw. Awesome concept. I had in mind to by a custom razor handle for my fusion and a kit with a badger hair brush, pre shave oil, shaving cream and after shave. So the guy at the store gives me a demo and has me pick out the brush that i thought felt best.
Now here is the kicker. I ask him how much for the brushes. I expect to hear an expensive figure. maybe like a range from 30-60 bucks. He quotes be 100- 190 for the finest one. Wtf?????????????? The whole kit would be like $300 bucks and then for one of the nice razor handle close to $200 bucks.
Now how on earth does a place like this stay in business? Do some assholes actually walk in there and spend $600 for a a kit and a razor. For fucking reals??? Beautiful stuff in that store but come one. You have to be a CEO to buy their shaving products. Minkya!

Yea they got some good shit, but WAY overpriced. I think they sell a special Gillette Fusion (which uses disposable blades) for something like a hunert dollards. Crazy.
google whipped dog badger brushes. They make pretty good ones for that 30 dollar range. I hav ehad mine for over a year and really like it.

Ya they have a bunch of fancy handles for all sorts of gillete razors. They even have the old school classic single blade razors, but they are like 300 bucks. it's stupid silly. I was so close to slapping the store clerk for attempting to tell me it cost that much. i felt like he was bullshiting me and wanted to jack my hard earned money from me.
I have literally seen comparable products like real badger hair brushes for 20 bucks elsewhere. Why on earth are there's $190???? Do they come from whole foods and caviar fed badgers ???? I really am mad that they attempt to do that shit
I found a local barber supply shop that has all the same stuff and then some with far lower prices and minus the metro vibe (actually a hipster vibe). Was pretty excited on the find.

Handmade work isnt cheap.
Try hand sanding a brush handle to perfection from a rare species of wood you paid a bundle for, and youll understand why. Especially when you get done and then find checks and voids in the wood you just spent hours on that you have to go back and fill with resin... and then finish out all over again.
100-190 is likely a steal.

I spent 600 once on badger hair brush and all the fixings from truefitt and hill. Probably biggest waste of money in my life. And I've wasted a lot. Although I do save a lot on soap.

Cartridge razors give me horrible ingrown hairs. I switched to the brush and double edged saftey razor and the ingrown hairs have been reduced a ton. Now a new blade costs me 25 cents and I get a very close shave.
