the CM Punk hate makes no sense

It makes perfect sense.

He does not belong threre.

Whambo - Not hating on him, I can't blame a guy for taking an opportunity.

Jason Priestley is a big hockey fan, and is a half decent player. I'm sure if the LA kings wanted to sign him at the height of his fame he would have taken it because he'd be fulfilling a childhood dream. You just hope a league/team would have more integrity than that just to get some press and make a quick buck.

Why do you know so much about Jason Priestley

I like him and hope he does well.

It's about the UFC saying it wants the best and then taking 0-0 CM while telling 14-0 olympian Askren to prove himself.

Really not sure how many thousands of times this needs to be said before people drop the "Pride did it" and "why the Punk hate?" posts.

hes making 7 figs with 0 fights while there are legit fighters that have toiled through the ranks making a tiny fraction of that

He's getting paid a million dollars a fight from the UFC? Source?

Wtf do you think he's getting paid?

the number doesnt even matter.  You can bet your ass he is getting a lot more than the vast majority of fighters with established records.  Look at the pay outs from the last UFC

I could care less about this guy I never heard of him before Chael mentioned him or something like that. Bringing in WWE guys does damage the image of the sport being a legit combat sport. For the record I did not like Brock coming in either and he is not legit the only reason he did anything is because of his sheer size. Glad Cain and Overeem exposed him for the sissy he really is.

dup

Yeah, I'm not really bothered. I know zero about pro wrestling so I legitimately have no idea who CM Punk is or any of his accolades, I just know the name. I think it's a dumb idea for him to try to fight for the first time in the UFC at 36 years of age with no MMA training (I've heard he does BJJ but I doubt that is enough), but it doesn't really affect my life in any way, so good luck to him.

IMO with the Reebok deal and not signing Ben Askren goes hand and hand with the commercialism of MMA. But i have no Hate for CM Punk. Phone Post 3.0

The source is the guy who original broke the news of the huge signing. Phone Post 3.0

Jack Skellington - He's got the guts to climb into the cage & fight. How could people hate on that? Same when James Toney fought in the UFC. As easy as it was to hate on Toney (did u see his interviews before the Couture fight?) mma fans actually respected him for climbing into the UFC cage. As far as Phil Brooks goes he might legit get his face smashed in when he debuts but at least he's shown the courage to do it. Weather he loses or not I'll be watching his debut that much is certain.

I don't have anything bad to say about the guy but there's probably not a person here who wouldn't have the so called guts to get in the cage for what he's getting paid.

Who fucking cares what he makes? He's gonna get paid based on what they expect to make on him. He didn't work his way up like most guys, but he got his shot based on other work he did. He earned his celebrity status and leveraged it into a chance at a ufc fight. Good for him. Good FOR him. Do I hope he wins? I don't give a shit. I hope he entertains. They're not touting him as a contender. I'm sure they're not cutting a guy at the bottom of the roster for cm punk. They want to generate ppv buys and other fighters are going to line up to get on the ppv he's on. Phone Post 3.0

You've placed the horse before the cart.

He has NOT stepped into the cage yet. He'll get respect when he does and if he performs. You are unreasonably asking us to give him respect for "guts to climb into the cage," when he hasn't yet.

C'mon son. Lay off the blunts.

Basically people are sayibg its ok because of the money. Gross. I have zero respect for zuffa. They will be fine without my money tho, they have the slim jim crowd to replace it. Phone Post 3.0

If this were a month ago and it was Bellator signing a pro wrestler with zero fight experience I wonder how Dana would have reacted to that. Either way I don't mind. If it gets more viewers good for them. It will be interesting to see how a pro wrestler does coming over. Lesnar was a beast with high level wrestling. Will be nice to see a normal sized guy give it a try without the wrestling accolades.. Look forward to seeing how good/bad he is. Phone Post 3.0

I don't make it a habit to get all up-in-arms about things which I have no control over.

At the end of the day, The UFC signed CM Punk to a fight contract. There is nothing I can do about that. Whether I will watch or not depends on a number of different factors. Primarily- his opponent, and the appeal of the other fights that will be on the card- will determine my level of interest.

I hope everything works out well for all parties involved, but I also understand that no amount of complaining or over-analyzing the situation is going to change that which we have no control over. Zuffa will do as they please, and spend money however they see fit.

I just wish them all the best, and hope it translates into entertainment for the fans, and ultimately more money for the fighters. Phone Post 3.0

"Expected debut 2015", but we'll see.

I'd be very surprised if he ever actually fights on a UFC card, but I guess we'll see.

Hope he doesn't get killed.

First calling an opposing view "hate" is just idiotic and it's meant to shut down opposition, not have a discussion. Those of us who find the deal distasteful could phrase it "Why do CM Punk supporters Hate integrity?"

The fact is this man did not EARN his spot, and no one respects people who do not earn their way. From the kid who made the team because his dad was the coach to the guy with fake trophies to the idiots claiming to be Navy SEALs, those people are always looked down on as fakes.

What other professional sport could a man just walk into because of the promise of ticket sales? NFL, NHL, NBA, PGA? It cheapens the sport and the accomplishments of those who have paid the price for their spot on the roster.

Not a fuck is given by me except for the fact that "WWE World Champion " is a joke. No bearing on mma skills whatsoever. There are so many fighters that really lay it all out there who are more deserving than a cartoon character like "Punk " or any of the other fake wrestlers out there. Phone Post
