If Franklins stand up is as good as the experts around here feel, then there will be no need for his superior ground game (which by the way is not better then Tanners). It was clear Franklin wanted his fight against Tanner to stay standing, he knew where he had the clear advantage in that fight.
The consensus prior to that fight was Tanner had the better ground game, while Franklin had the better stand up, and was the more well rounded of the two, as Franklins ground was better then Tanners stand up. Franklin however has done nothing since that fight to prove he has a better ground game then Tanner.
People like to mention the Rivera fight.. I hope these people do realize Loiseau was 23 years old when that fight happend. A guy can improve from the age of 23, it's not exactly rare in mma. Frankly, if Rivera and Loiseau were to fight again today, Loiseau would beat him. It has been well documented that it was a off night on behalf of Loiseau's (they do happen every so often, afterall), and that he was by no means on top of his game, or as sharp as he can be.
Those who want to use that fight as a indicator of what will happen against Franklin, are only being foolish.. I have a feeling that Franklin will not be using that logic himself, as if he does he will be in for a rude awakening to go along with his fans... as it stands right now, I'd wager it is only his fans in for the rude awakening. Rich clearly smarter then they are.
People can say how Franklin would finish Loiseau if he gets his back, well guess what? they would have said the same thing regarding Tanner leading up to his fight with The Crow... I mean afterall, the only chance Loiseau had at beating Tanner was to keep it standing... There was no way Loiseau would make it out of that fight with Tanner if it stayed on the ground, or so said the experts...
You would think the experts would learn from previous mistakes, but the experts around here never learn from previous mistakes, they just hold out hope for the possibility that the next guy can do it better then the last guy..
well, Franklin is capable of finishing Loiseau, as his ground game is certainly worthy enough, but that is far from a guarantee. I said before the Tanner fight ( proven right as always, im sure it's archived) that Loiseau is by no means a easy guy to control on the ground and when he has top position, you better be prepared to take some abuse like not many others can dish out better at 185. I said there would be a possibility that Tanner would take some punishment on the ground, but so many experts around here would conveniently overlook that possibilty. Loiseau would only be able to win it on his feet said the experts.
Franklin ending up in a similar position as Tanner against The Crow, is just as likely as Franklin tapping Loiseau out... To rule either out as a possibility, is pretty ignorant and speaks of the intelligence level of certain individuals around here. If those inidivduals can not figure that part out, (intelligence level here) it means to paint you a picture, it does not speak very highly.
"Franklin will dominate the crow any way he wants. Franklin is a much better striker than Tanner on his feet and would take it to the crow in a way he has never had to deal with. I also believe that Franklin has better submissions for the ground. If he gets the crows back, it's over. Talk as much shit as you want about Franklin....his record speaks for itself."
How do you know what Loiseau has had to deal with. For the record Loiseau trains with stand up fighters who are superior to Franklin. Loiseau will be more then capable of handling what Franklin will bring on the feet. Loiseau has all the tools to give Franklin a very difficult time stand up wise. I really hope Franklin decides to keep it standing, because Loiseau will once again feed up some crow. God that nickname couldn't be any more perfect for him.
For the record. my feeling that way is by no means talking shit about Franklin either. A stand up guy, and a great fighter who is great for the sport, but his cheerleaders get a little carried away.. when they feel Loiseau can't give him a run standing they overrate his stand up big time. Make it happen UFC, make it happen.
P.S. a tip to make money for those who are new to the sport of MMA, and just happen to be lingering around the background... more often then not around here the consensuse turns out to be pretty far off. In a fight like this one, you would do yourself a favour to go against the grain. whenever the consensus is so convinced one guy is so much better then another guy, they usually end up pretty far off. if you are looking to make money, go against the consensus it works almost every time, or maybe that speaks more about myself being correct more often then not, then it does about going against the consenus. in fairness the consensus isn't always wrong, but it seems when I go against them they usually end up wrong, so those new to the sport if you want to make some money, and if you see me debating against the consensus you'd be wise to put some money down.
