That’s it. It’s been a great career but the choke Bueno Silva landed on Holly at 38 seconds of the second round spells the end of Holly’s reign as a top ranked bantamweight.
She has too many loses. Too many chances. She’s also 41. Holly said she’s not stopping till the wheels fall off. At this point it is obvious that Holly will never be a UFC champion again.
Someone said it best in the fight thread, she made a career out of knocking Rousey into another dimension. And then lost every other big fight she was ever in.
But she’s a sweetheart and a preachers daughter so I’m sure Dana will put her into the hall of fame immediately after she retires.
Fighting past your prime in the female division is less forgiving then in the men’s division. No disrespect intended with my comment either. She will still be competitive and be a mainstay on the roster.
question for those who still train grappling:
there was a backwards roll, hands on hips escape i used to do for a standing guillotine
i know there was a different guillotine grip on buenos, more rnc style, but i think this escape would have worked
do u agree?
for sure it was worth trying
