Nearly 2 thousand Billionaires on the planet, so yes, they're rich, but no it isn't mind blowing unheard of rich.

If there is nearly 2 thousand billionaires on the planets, and there are what 4 billion people on earth, those are pretty incredible odds.

500,000 is still a tiny % of 4 bill, 2,000 is pretty close to mind blowing unheard of rich.
They inherited it Phone Post 3.0
Yup they inherited 1 casino from their father. Frank became president of Station Casino in 1989 before becoming CEO in 1993 (the year Lorenzo became president) and they now have 15 or 16.

So they started out with several million and now they are worth around $3 billion.

They weren't gifted their empire, they created it. You could give a lot of rich kids a stake in a casino and they'd manage to fuck it up within a year or two, the Fertitta's are incredibly good at what they do. Phone Post 3.0

Hahaha 2000 is not a high number at all when you're talking about the entire planet, that a ridiculously small number. Phone Post 3.0

The UFC was run like shit before, and was essentially about to go out of business.  They've done a good job with it since then.  Not all their decisions are in the best interests of the fighters, but they are running a sports entertainment company successfully.

Didn't they help it go out of business before buying when a fertita was on the gaming commission?

RepsOne - We're they born into money or just built an empire themselves? Phone Post 3.0
They were born in to it but made it grow. Their father was the one who created it. Phone Post 3.0

Is this even really true?

Their dad retired in 93. At this time stations went public.

They bought back all the shares in mid 2000s going private again.

Had to restructure their ownership when filed for bankruptcy, now they own like 50% and are planning on going public again.

The biggest jump in their wealth or that was actually done by them would be zuffa and UFC related shit. Phone Post 3.0

thei dad owned 1 casino as far as I know.

they took that and turned it into 15, Gordon Biersch brewing and UFC.

john joe - i still dont understand how they became billionaires off the back of "local" casinos (ie, off-strip facilities aimed at las vegas locals rather than on-strip aimed at tourists). LV isn't THAT big of a city - its crazy to me that there is so much value in catering to the gambling habits of locals, unless like everyone who moves to LV does so for the gambling.

I visited LV last year for a week; absolutely not a place i would like to live

Nope. its a shithole.

Would love to hear the dirt on these guys

For sure they have done some bad business in their time, just remind me of legit gangsters when it comes to money

Wasn't there a story behind that energy drink the UFC used to push? That it was owned by zuffa and they needed it to fail
I could be making that up though Phone Post 3.0

Fighters could be sponsored by station casinos. Phone Post 3.0

There is another billionaire Fertitta of Sicilian extraction in the Galveston area you're talking about--Tilman Fertitta. 2.6 billion. Tilman is the first cousin of the brothers. The father has been associated with the Maceo syndicate which, while not a part of LCN per se, controlled the very strong nightclub and vice scene in Galveston years ago. There is a marriage relationship with the Maceos as well. So 3 billionaire Fertittas.

There was 4 till poor Fredo Fertitta had his accident. Phone Post 3.0

Lol the Galveston mob doesn't sound that tough. Not even lcn, I guess there's a lot of money in the underworld of Galveston.

Is that where the father is originally from? I'm sure after all their success in Vegas they're now affiliated with the real mob somehow. I know they say the mob doesn't run Vegas anymore but I find it hard to believe there's not something going on, every rich person in the city is prolly slimey in some way. Russians might have moved in with there super money.

Either way these guys definitely don't come across like your usuall nerdy white boy Ivy League rich kids. The dad was prolly a gangster that got rich and raised his kids tough. What's the dads story, anyone know where the money started?

If there's a billionaire in your family and you have a brain I'd imagine it'd be easy to get rich. Unless said billionaire is an absolute greedy selfish fuck.

It's no doubt that the Fertittas had mob ties. I remember in an interview one of the Attorney Generals of the United States saying the Italian mob isn't a thing anymore because the members of the "italian mobs" basically ASSIMILATED into American society. They used the money they made from crime and invested it into legitimate businesses, then got out of the game. Also, they used the money to educate their kids.

The Fertittas were an example of this.

Tilman owns a portfolio of strong restaurant brands, casinos, etc.

He doesn't make money off of night clubs, He's in a more lucrative business he makes money off of getting simpleton working class people(think Trump supporters) to spend their money on food and drinks at his generic restaurants.
