same here, the trailer spooked me a bit.

Friend of mine saw it this weekend. He gave it a 4/10. Not very scary he says. Phone Post 3.0

Been looking forward to it for awhile.. seems like a nice throw back to the Cannibal movies of the late 70s and early 80s.

Wish it was playing somewhere near me, fingers still crossed it will open somewhere around here soon Phone Post 3.0

I think I will bring a muskrat to eat during the performance. Phone Post 3.0

I watched it and pretty much agree with the 4/10. It's not really scary and it's pretty much on par with hostile 2 . Some pretty cool gore here and there but a whole lot of shitty acting and mediocre story line ..

If you want to watch a movie to shock the shit outta you just watch a Serbian film. Phone Post 3.0

I was thinking more about how this film failed, in particular as an "homage" to the Cannibal films of the past:

(Spoilers coming)

1. No dicks or balls were cut off. All cannibal films have a castration scene. The movie even built up a character as a perfect castration candidate, but let him off the hook.

2. No oddly creepy music/score. Any good cannibal movie needs an out of place score to put you on edge.

3. No rape scene. Not that I condone rape, but it adds a disturbing element to all cannibal films.

4. No animal mutilation or live insect eating. They could probably do all this stuff with special effects so why not.

5. An half naked old mexican woman painted yellow with a munchkin voice is not scary at all. Unauthentic cannibals.

I would think that this would be porn for you, lol.

No exposed native flap jack titties?

I caught this on opening day, I was shocked that this film was released in theaters in the us and i just had to see it.
Spoiler Free review-
It was not the caliber of most theatrical releases. The tone was hard to catch, one minute it was funny and the next it was dark as hell. The movies use of humor spoiled the sense of dread. Also there were two scenes that blow my mind that they made into the final cut of the film. They should have been left on the cutting room floor. AND there is a post credit scene that is utter rubbish.
That being said I really enjoyed the film. When it goes down, it goes crazy. The ending was also not satisfying. If you know what your are in for you may find it highly enjoyable. I cannot imagine someone taking their girlfriend in and expecting a standard horror film.

If you're trying to make a movie about people being killed and eaten by jungle people you should leave out any "poop" and "pot" humor if you want it to be taken seriously. Otherwise we can just go watch the Troma movie "Cannibal: The Musical" by The South Park Guys. Great movie, btw. This movie is marketed as "Horror" and it doesn't have a scary tone at all. Eli shouldn't be referencing old school grisly horror movies since he can't do them justice and can just do his usual gay try-too hard out of place humor schtick.

You can download it now.

the trailer was spookier than the movie ... bloody, but not raw.  it was ok

I liked the movie overall, and was not too let down.

but the "pot" part was stupid and distracted from the movie a little.

Still was a cool movie though, a few scenes made me a little anxious which is always good...and there was some good gore. Acting was better then expecting. Phone Post 3.0
