The only reason ufc signed cyborg..

Shit, I don't know why they don't just open up the damn 145 division.  I'm sure they can find at least ONE 145'er to face Cyborg.  It's not going to cost Zuffa anything regardless of how few women there are to compete.

Once that division is open many more women will start training for that weight just because it's in the UFC.  Even if they know they won't win they can get a payday and world wide exposure.  Then they can work on setting up the Rousey fight.

Yeah just throw her on a couple cards in some feature fights... You don't even need a division or champion just create some buzz. If they can find Cyborg fights in Invicta, they sure as hell can find her a couple in the UFC just to build hype around a 145 pound female killing machine

GJdeux -

to keep her out of bellator. no one but the hardcore fans even care about this fight. the casual fan does not want to tune in to watch ronda be someone that looks like a man. they want to see two at least sort of cute girls in there slugging it out. no one knows who cyborg is and the ufc can promote her all they want, will still look like ronda fighting a man and the public won't buy it.

At first I also thought it was just to keep her out of Bellator.  But if Zuffa thought she wasn't any kind of potential draw, there is no reason to keep her out of a competing organization.   Let them sign her and waste their money.  I think they do see Cyborg as a potential draw but aren't quite sure what to do with her.  That's assuming they are adamant on not setting up a new division.

The Alchemist - The signed her so she could fight Ronda. After Ronda beats her they won't care where she goes. This is a business decision on everyone's part, including Cyborg who's looking for the biggest pay day of her life. Bellator was never a real option for Cyborg and she said that.

I suppose that's possible.  But they have to take into consideration Cyborg winning.  So does that mean they signed her to a one fight contract?  Two fight?  Three?

If it's a close fight or Cyborg wins, obviousy they have to plan for a rematch, and/or a tie breaker.

OP is correct in a way.

UFC def wants this fight. but they also didnt want Bellator scooping Cyborg up in the meantime. they also didnt want Rampage to stay there or Cro-Cop to go there.

You can't write this kind script, this is real life rocky, cyborg is our Ivan drago, we can all at least agree on the great story this fight comes with! and that bald asshole and the ferrttias are more then willing to take the gamble. Just look at the "do you really think ronda can beat cyborg thread", everyone knows what's going happen, more than half the thread is talking about Cyborg having only a punchers chance, not it your normal punchers chances scenario, but in the sense that, punching is literally is all cyborg brings to the table vs rousey.

They sat in a board room, went looking for "cyborgs crips, quick, striking technique & KO's(real KO's) - highlight video" on YouTube,,,,,,,,didn't find that mother fucker, and said bring her in, make her cut to 135 so we limit our chances of being embarrassed by a PED test fail, and let ronda rip her arm off, and send her popularity into another solar system.

So you can't write this kind of script, yet it's the real life rocky? Isn't Rocky a script that was written?

Yes, you can't write this kind of script for REAL LIFE, it has to fall together organically.

and yes you are also correct, rocky(rocky 4 to be specific)is a script that was written, have 2 sparkly star sticker! You deserve it.

No idea what those are, would you post a link please?

And for the record, you can write this kind of script (Rocky 4) or you can't write it in real life (wasn't Rocky 4 written in real life)? Please clarify. Thank you

The problem is that real life isn't a movie. Rocky can lose. Phone Post 3.0
Rocky did lose. To Appollo. I guess it just depends on who you are casting Cyborg as. Phone Post 3.0

Lol, wrestling fans and their stories. Think about it again after the dizzying glow of wrestlemania is over.

Perhaps they signed her on the assumption that she would never make weight, or she would get popped for roids again, and then her career is essentially over, and she has no excuses at all.

I have no idea why ZUFFA does not see that it can base a 145 division against Cyborg. You have an undefeated champion actively defending her title against the best contenders in a competitive division, who is media savvy with mainstream appeal and who is the consummate professional who always makes weight and regularly calls for stricter PED testing which she has been the subject of since she was 15 competing internationally. Then you have Cyborg.

Don't get me wrong, RR has ten times the credibility over Cyborg at this point.  My post was addressing the confusion as to why they don't open a 145 division since they have signed Cyborg and are paying her an exhorbatant amount of money to compete in Invicta.  The only thing that makes sense to me at this point is they are doing it only to prevent her from going to Bellator.  But that also is somewhat confusing.  The only reason to pay her not to go to Bellator is to prevent them from making a lot of money off Cyborg.  So why not make the money themselves by just opening up the damn 145 division?

EDIT:  Unless, they feel there is only a 50/50 chance Cyborg can stay clean AND make 145.  Therefore they make sure Bellator cant make money off her but also don't open a 145 and risk the embarrasment of the division falling apart if Cyborg tests positive again or repeatedly comes in over 145.  It's a unique situation since they would basically be spotlighting Cyborg the same way they are spotlighting Rousey.  They don't have to do that in the mens divisions.
