LOL. I remember when that happened. After that match Pride made that move illegal. They nicknamed it the 'Tom Erickson rule'.

Absolutely NO REASON to make that move illegal. If you can't defend it, then oh well.

Kidding me? How can you not defend that? That is illegal in the UFC right?

I think the reasoning behind the move being illegal is that a variation on it is just simply crushing the trachea with your fingers. Sure, you can technically defend it pretty easily, but the guy could still smash or damage your windpipe pretty quickly. It's just a needless move that's along the lines of banning gouging to the eyes and flesh.

if Liborio (with today's att) trained the erickson we saw in the vid above.....he would crush lesnar like a bug.

actually there is a choke called the 'Copa cabana' that is the same thing as that but the hand he had around the head grabs the choking hand to lock it in.

I do it all the time, very legal... you just cant squeeze the adams apple/trachea with a pinching motion

gullitines hurt the trachea much more then an open hand pushing down on ur neck....totally legal move, marcelo garcia rape chokes the crap out of everyone in the gym.
