DravenTyler - I'm starting to think they might actually believe Fedor will lose at some point, and want to make sure they get more value to risk ratio.

Kind of like in Poker... you KNOW you have a good hand, but you don't want to put all your chips on the line unless the possible win is worth more than the possible loss.

Say they let Fedor go and he loses on the first fight... even if by fluke. That would severely hurt their value.
There could be some truth to that.  I don't think Fedor is afraid at all, but I think his management needs him to win more than he actually does himself.

I agree completely. Here's what I posted in another thread:

I think these negotiations are more about making M-1 and Vadim money than they are about having Fedor fight. Vadim isn't a dumb guy. He knows that Fedor is only as good as his last fight, that in MMA anything can happen and that Fedor will eventually lose. Once that happens, Vadim loses most of his bargaining power. So of course Vadim wants to secure the deal which makes him the most money and involves the least amount of risk. How will he do that? Co-promoting with the UFC.

Also, "co-promotion" is such a vague and loaded term. I really don't think it's a simple as putting "UFC and M-1 present" in front of every PPV that Fedor appears in. People have been saying that the UFC contracts are unreasonable, but is M-1 being reasonable in its demands? Why would Zuffa agree to bring in other Red Devil fighters and share profits with M-1?

M-1, as a commercial entity, really doesn't bring much value to the table besides Fedor. And like I said, he's one loss away from losing his mystique and marketability.
You have ignored this user.

Monsters Ball - M-1 vs UFC has become the new version of Pride vs UFC for the UFC huggers.

uhhh no...i took pride over ufc anyday...m1 is not even comparable

You say that as if it is impossible for Fedor to lose. He is a great fighter but anyone can lose at any time. I will admit there is a chance he can continue to go undefeated. But the reality of the situation is anyone can lose.

ufc should loan them Randy, and see if he can't fix the UFC's fedor problem. Randy's on his way out anyway

"No other fighter has as much to lose from 1 loss as he does, and they know that."

Definitely. His value is ENTIRELY dependent on being the undefeated #1.

He is not a draw.

No organization has any investment in, or loyalty to him. One of the downsides of fighting wherever and whenever you want. That even explains a large part of why he is not a draw. No show's audience ever builds up any familiarity with him (except Pride's of course, whose demise he ironically helped bring about by his own actions).
