Looks like he's doing a scissor motion with his arms? I will have to take this one to the gym and give some feedback later. Seems the throw - like most - will need to be timed real well with the guy's forward movement and catch him in transition. It kind of looks like he may be doing a simultaneous trip but, I can't really tell from the poor video.
there's a lot of leg and hip action in that clip. looks like a gi'less harai or hani
My wish for 2005.
The rest of the judo world outside of the United States spends the next 3 1/2 years, devoting all their training towards learning that throw for the next Olympics.
Ashi-guruma?
Lol at JG. You've got to be-lieve :)
If you watch the bald guy its obvious he jumps.
He jumped alright.

There is NO way that grip is going to work no gi. Maybe, and I mean
maybe, you could catch that with a gi, but tori just doesn't have the
control to throw uki in a live situation.
Greg
Yeah it did look like the guy jumped to me also.
I think that you need to look a little closer. He pulls down and across on the right arm to unbalance the guy and get his weight up on the edge of the right foot. He then "hip checks" into the guy, that is what makes it look like the guy is jumping.
He is definitely throwing the guy.
LOL-That is a Bagua site. I did not realize it at first. Bagua throws are great. They are really awkward and usually hard to land from.
Well, after some work on the mat this week with what I could figure from watching the video, I'm very skeptical. I certainly aint the be all end all of throwers but, the jury is still in for me.
He is throwing the guy. Admittedly, the guy is not resisting, but with a little modification you could make that work on a resisting opponent. Bagua throws come from unusual angles, so not very many people fell the set up or see the throws coming.
It looks like Osoto-otoshi with a varient on the grip, and yes, he totally
jumps, however this throw would probably work as a combination
feinting from a right-sided attack and with less spinning to the left, the
drive should remain forward (more efficient).

He is absolutey not jumping. Watch it frame by frame. You cannot jump with a straight leg.
It looks like a variation of a throw we have called inside cracking. The throw works, but there's way too much slack between the two.
Looks like he's jumping to me.
For a moment I thought the video was about the throw Snake uses in Metal gear Solid 3, which is supposedly a Close-Quarter Combat Technique. Bascially, he applies a rear naked choke and then flings you to the ground, releasing you as you are unbalanced.
If you duoble click on the "start" button when you are watching it, it should move almost frame by frame. That is what I do.
