I would be very interested in seeing a panel of twenty people like Matt Hume, Andre Pederneiras, Satoru Sayama, Minoru Suzuki, Greg Jackson, Firas Zahabi, Renzo Gracie, Henry Cejudo, Mike Brown, Khabib, etc… be selected and then each assign a number 1-100 to one hundred fighters with the GOAT being 100 points and the 100th ranked GOAT being given 1 point. Then you add up all the points and the fighter who earned the most points gets listed as the GOAT and the rankings would then follow based on the assigned points.
Great idea! I’m free this Saturday if you’re really up for this.
Interesting concept. Though I think Mighty Mouse would get underrated on the math side. He’s gonna be top 5 on the theory side but much lower on the math side.
Funny how completely convoluted the term “GOAT” has become
Wmma goat
As the greatest MMA expert on this site I’ll try by myself:
- GSP
- Jon Jones
- Anderson Silva
- Fedor
- BJ Penn
- Daniel Cormier
- Jose Aldo
- Randy Couture
- Mighty Mouse
- Dan Henderson
- Henry Cejudo
- Volkanovski (if he beats Islam he’ll skyrocket to number 5)
- Matt Hughes
- Conor McGregor
- Stipe Miocic
- Shogun
- Max Holloway
- Frankie Edgar
- Kamaru Usman
- Wanderlei Silva
- Dominick Cruz
- Israel Adesanya
- Khabib
- TJ Dillashaw
- Robert Whittaker
- Fabricio Werdum
- Tito Ortiz
- Vitor Belfort
- Big Nog
- Robbie Lawler
That’s all I got and I probably missed some names but that’s off the top of my head
Honorable mentions: Royce Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Sakuraba, Ken Shamrock, etc. but they fought in a different type of era so hard to rank them accurately among modern fighters
Only person I wouldn’t put on that list is Vitor. He was a gatekeeper for 80% of his career
Good list except where’s Chuck?
Like I said probably forgot some people. Chuck’s def should be on the list and far above Tito
