The total gym?

What your opinion?

and no blaming Chuck Norris!

Baz

I have 1 and i use it regulary in conjuction with free weights and find it adequate.

EEEEES BOOOSHEET MAN. Total JEEM IS COCK CHEEECKEN.

On a serious note, a barbell and a shitload of weights is alot better. Dumbbells too.

I think it is naff compared with freeweights.

The missus was looking at one and I told her that I'm not paying for that while I have a power-rack at my local gym.

Baz

I have one.

If you're reasnably fit and strong, it won't give you adequate resistance to make any real strength gains. And IMO there are MUCH better ways to develop your cardio.

I've heard older people like 'em.

Isn't a variation on an old Pilates style machine?

If not I'm pretty sure that there are some Pilates groups that are using it as a part of their work out.

I think it'd be a good tool to add to your routine if you can get one cheaply.

The range of motion with the strength aspect would be a good training and recovery tool.

I saw one that you can add weight to, but all your really doing is changing the plane of motion to move your bodyweight, thus putting you in a more advantageous position. I could see certain moves being beneficial to pretty much anyone, but having tried a few things on it at Sports Authority, I think any one who weight trains will be unable to get a decent workout on it.
