In a real life fight, this is likely the best use of grappling: controlling your opponent and then being able to just grind him out with strikes.
I have a friend who is currently under house-arrest for RNC'ing a guy, which is "potentially lethal force" and a true felony.
If he had simply pinned the guy down and given him a little chin-music with some sort elbow strikes, it would probably have been just written off as a scuffle with minor legal implications.
