The value of our planet's entire economy...

Would apparently be instantly invalidated by the first mineral rich asteroid that we could acquire.

If everyone has a billion , nobody has a billion .

Well at least we could afford to pay off those reparations.

It's no accident UAE & China sending missions to Mars within a week of each other.

Either they're getting out of Dodge do "dodge" an asteroid, or bringing rotohammers to Quaid.

This. Everything is relative. Some will have more billions than others. A loaf of bread will cost $80.00 and a car will be 11 million.

And we start the entire income inequality debate all over again.

Depends. Let's say we acquired a meteor made of solid nickle. 50 trillion dollars worth.

Well who the fuck needs that much nickle?

Yes.  It wouldn't invalidate the economy unless someone secretly acquired it and distributed it to a select group of people without disclosing how much existed or who received it.  Even then, eventually gold would just become worthless.
