They rented a 100k tent for this wedding.

The flowers alone cost 25k at our weddings.

I wouldn't tell anyone

Mayfield - Prep, set up and tear down are what costs the most for a structure like that. That os a super nice tent.

My wife plans events. You can save a lot when you know what avoid spending money on. We spent $7000 on our wedding. We fed about 350 for about $3 a person.

What brand chicken nuggets did you serve?

Jay, jump the groom and take his cash.

Passive Jay -

wedding at the club today. The groom rented a 7000sf tent to be set up in the back to give them more room. They are not done setting up yet but here are some pictures of what they have done so far. Just the tent rental was 100k, that does not include decorations, the carpet, furniture or anything like that.

would that buy 3 or 4 houses in detroit?

does anyone else feel sorry for any groom in one of these weddings? I mean I get why the groom would be all happy in some traditional culture. He gets to get laid, his wife is going to cook and clean, etc. in a traditional culture where women have a traditional role it makes sense to have a traditional wedding. the UShas a 50% divorce rate and men get killed in divorce. Most american women aren't traditional so not worth this.

"would that buy 3 or 4 houses in detroit?"

Sure seems like it.

And unless they are insanely wealthy, that 100K would go a long way at the start of a marriage.  But I've seen others spend lavishly on a marriage only to be saddled by debt and wishing they had that money after the honeymoon was over.

^^ this is why I am unmarried yet have been with my GF for a decade. Fuck marriage. I do not see the point at all. I have shot about 200 weddings, to think that half of those will break up is scary. I know some of them already have. Within 4 years of getting married.

one wedding I did, the bridesmaids wee trying to persuade the bride not to go through with I unless she was 1000%.....this was at the door of the church about to head in lol. They got married and got divorced within a year. Well there’s a waste of money.

A fireworks company I know were hired for a wedding by an Apple executive. His daughter was getting married in Ireland. He spent £50,000 on fireworks alone. Dunno wot that is in dollars but it’s a lot on fireworks over here lol.

They lined the driveway of the estate with Big fountain fireworks and lit them when the car drove down. That’s one expensive exit to a wedding lol. They had a full firework show too of course.

Well given that it was an Apple exec, it was probably like one of us spending $50.  I probably would in his position too.

darkness66 - My buddy has worked 800 hours of overtime this year to pay for a wedding that he scheduled for 3 pm on a Friday. I bought him a $200 knife set but by the time my date got off of work and we arrived at the venue, they were already putting away the buffet. Not that my date could have eaten anyway; she's Jewish and the only thing that didn't have bacon in it was the salad mix and the cold ass prime rib.
Fucking rednecks

You kinda sound like a douche

I know, we're pretty hard on each other at work. But this dude is a real sweetheart and I know what he really wants is a house and kids. I've watched this guy work his ass off. His wife is a wedding planner and it was a nice event, but it seems as though he got pressured into it.

FYI you failed miserably at justifying why you seem like a douche.

Very very few divorces in my inner circle. Our weddings are cultura,l very high and very flamboyant very flashy expensive. The engagement party cost more than a typical American wedding. Then you have the Kilma which The bride gets gifted expensive jewelry from the entire grooms family. My wife just bought a very expensive diamond bracelet for our nephews future bride. Their wedding will cost over 100,000 and I will have to leave an envelope with a few thousand as a gift. Our gifts are all cash and there is a hierarchy depending on how close you are to the married couple. $500 for a distant relatives and thousands if they're very close nephews nieces. Cousins are $1000-$1500 gift. They add up if several weddings in a year. I'll post some photos and videos later

Sweet mercy I could not afford that haha.

Sound like an Indian wedding. I was in a local kebab shop (which is a run down shit hole btw) and the guy who owns it was telling me about his Indian Wedding. He said it cost £500,000. And I thought for sure this guy was talking crap. He said he had a stage built out on top of water and the biggest cost was a well known Bollywood type singer. Cost something like 200,000.

Thought he was just telling stories until the delivery driver came into the shop and confirmed it was all true. He even produced his wedding dvd from behind the counter lol. I never seen the footage but I looked at the pictures on the box and it 100% looks legit. Big stage built on the water and looked like there was about 2000 people at it. The delivery driver (who was Irish so I tended to believe him) said the first 15 mins of the dvd is just footage of hundreds and hundreds of bikes arriving at the Wedding. It was an arranged thing apparently. Lasted over several days if I remember right and he had to go to the brides family before the marriage and give gifts of gold etc.

Be got a good deal tho because he was a big fat unfortunate looking fella and his bride looked hot as fuck in the pictures.

I cant stress enough how run down this kebab shop was btw and he had only just got married within a year or 2....where the fuck do they get the money!?!?

This. That’s a shit load of labor and time to put up and break down.

I just did a quick price search.  You can rent a nice 5200 sq ft tent for 5 days for $2200.  Sounds like someones getting fucked.  And I don't mean the bride.

"A fool and his money are soon parted"

groundfighter2000 - All this snapping of pics during work hours is very unprofessional.

it was before my shift started, that is why the light is kind of dim, it was early.

$100 000??????
I should just BUY one, and rent it out at $25 000. I'd still make a killing.

Steak and chicken, vegetable medley, roast potatoes. My Brother-In-Law works for a food distribution company so we used his discount and got the food for less then wholesale. We hired a chef at a flat rate to do the the cooking, so we didn't pay per plate. Served buffet so no need for a wait staff. Not fancy, but the food was good and everyone got plenty to eat.

ArmbarKing - More money than brains.

he made his money in commercial real estate so i would say about equal

HotSteppa - $100 000??????

My cousins did that with chair rentals. They were quoted like $5k for their wedding, bought a set for $25k, and have been renting them out for $3k a pop, undercutting all of the competitors. Eventually expanded into different types of chairs and hired people to run it all.. they're both young attorneys and have already paid off their student loans in 18 months with just this supplementary income.

I wish I was that smart.

Dude, what? 350 people? Wow! What did you serve? What state? That’s amazing? We had a bare bones wedding in California and it cost us 20 grand

Outdoor wedding in a city park with a huge shelter. It cost $125 to rent it for the day. It had power and restrooms. We did rent nicer tables, chairs and linens. Decor was all home made and simple. I don't remember what the band charged but they let us use their PA for the ceremony and speeches so there was corner cut. I already explained that we were able to save money by paying a chef a flat fee and then getting the food wholesale plus a discount. No wait staff, serve the food buffet After band, food, and rentals the next major expense was beer and wine. We got 500 cans of beer and 20 bottles of wine, and we had plenty left over so I say we did good there.
